The ABIT AB9 motherboard is a Dual Core ready motherboard offering superior overclocking ability without burning a massive hole in your pocket. Based on the Intel P965 chipset, the AB9 supports the latest, and the fastest, Intel Core 2 Duo 1066/800 MHz FSB processors. It features ABIT's revolutionary SoftMenu technology that allows you to adjust your CPU settings directly from the BIOS set-up. With the help of the integrated µGuru chip, you can easily interact overclock, monitor, optimize, and stabilize your system using "zero" computer power. Its SilentOTES works in tandem with µGuru and dissipates heat away from the motherboard quickly and efficiently.

With an 8 Gigabyte memory capacity (Dual channel DDR2) and a PCI-E X16 graphic card slot, the AB9 ensures that you can tweak your board to better performance. Six SATA 3Gb/s connectors ensure warehouse-storage capacities and four expansion slots (2 x PCI-E X1 + 2 x PCI) make sure that you have ample room for all the cards you need. The motherboard features a built-in 7.1-channel High-Definition Audio Codec that delivers audiophile-grade sound. Additionally, the On-board Gigabit Ethernet card helps eliminate the need for an add-on LAN card and reduces card-clutter.

This is a great mainstream board that's ready to be pushed to your limits to give you the power and flexibility you need!

5 out of 5 eggswhat can i say? AMAZING.

Pros: the HT is kudos: i'm installing 2 games and power director at the same time. uGuru makes almost everything easy. also onboard led showing error on what loading step helped a lot; figured out my ram was defective.

Cons: The BIOS.

Other Thoughts: wish i had gotten ab9 pro.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: The layout is fairly good, and the Abit software is excellent.

Cons: Abit has fallen off a bit in the quality area. My floppy controller failed after a few weeks. An ok, but not great overclocker. Bios options limit NB voltage which hurts.

Other Thoughts: Ok, but there are better 965 boards available at this price.

5 out of 5 eggsMobo

Pros: Purchased with a Core 2 Duo e6400 and Kingston Value ram KVR800D2N5K2/1G which works fine for the 965 chipset.

Cons: None, floppy placement is a non-issue for me.

4 out of 5 eggsAB9 intel 775

Pros: Very good board, excellent for over clocking, heat pipes on the north bridge are great.

Cons: i had a little trouble installing XP, you need the floppy it comes with to install the raid drivers.

3 out of 5 eggsIt gets the job done

Pros: price, easy overclocking interface.

Cons: What is up with the ide connector? I had to purchase a 24" ide cable to reach my optical drives and it is still a little tighter than I would like. I just have a standard atx case.

Other Thoughts: Besides the terrible placement of the IDE connector this is a great board.

5 out of 5 eggsTakes A little Time

Pros: This was used in a friends first build (Core 2 Duo). Board has lots of options, and we had no raid problems since he was only using one HDD. The led display is also a nice feature to help you diagnose problems with your build.

Cons: We did have to up the voltage for our g-skill ram manually but it really wasn't a problem.

Other Thoughts: We didn't try overclocking so I can't give any information about that yet. But there are some options in the bios for tweaking.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Overall, very happy with this board. The other reviews on this site offer a good descriptioni. I will just add that this board accomadates a scythe ninja plus heatsink with no problems. The fan sits above one of the ram slots, but the slot is not blocked.

Cons: As others mentioned, poor IDE cable location.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome board!!

Pros: Booted right up with a Core Duo 6300 & Corsar 2GB C4-6400. You really have to update the bios if you want your ram to run @ optimum settnings. The origianl bios automatically sets the vdimm to 1.8 which only allows the ram to run @ 5-5-5-12. Once i flashed, it automatically set the vdimm to 2.0v, and i was able to manually set the timings to 4-4-4-12. Also, if you want to use the JMB363 SATA raid, you MUST UPDATE THE BIOS!!!

Cons: none!

Other Thoughts: OTHERWISE it's a great board that is rock stable with plenty of features and overclocking options. The uGURU software is a plus if you want to control your fan speed.

4 out of 5 eggsGood board, annoying installation

Pros: All around great board. Very nice BIOS to work with. And the passive cooling system seems to work quite well.

Cons: The SATA driver 3.5" disk came with corrupted data. There were minor installation issues due to the strange layout of the board, but with a mid-ATX case it's not too much trouble.

Other Thoughts: Intel's stock cooling fan for the core 2 duo doesn't connect to the board easily, I would recommend picking up a better one.

4 out of 5 eggsWorth The Money

Pros: Very Stable board with good all around performance. You actually don't need UGURU to OC at all. I am not using it and have my Intel C2D E6400 OC'd to 2.5 with OK Ram. Lots of OCing ability. A novice to Expert can use this board without any problems

Cons: Only supports 2 IDE devices. If you have more than 2 IDE devices you are going to be out of luck. If you have a large case you will be S.O.L. because of the placement of the IDE connector on the board. The preveious reviewers were not joking about this at all!!! The D*I L**party MB in my other system is just as good!

Other Thoughts: YOU MUST LOAD THE JMICRON DRIVERS. In order for the IDE controller to function propely. The JMICRON floppy should read RAID and IDE drivers. I spent 2 days with problems from my IDE DVD drives burning from 1 to the other until I loaded the Drivers. You don't have to enable a RAID configuration in the BIOS but you need the JMICRON drivers from the floppy for your systems IDE devices to operate properly .
