5 out of 5 eggsRuns Windows 10 perfectly, 11+ years on!

Pros: I have one of these in an Alienware desktop from 2004 and it still works great along with the CT-479 socket adapter and a Pentium M. Windows 10 installed all the drivers automatically and it runs as smoothly as the day I got it with XP. With SATA and ECC memory support, this system is still quite usable as a lightweight server or thin client.

Cons: Sadly, AGP graphics do not have the support that they did in 2004 and although I was able to force Windows 10 to use the Vista driver for my Radeon 9550, there are no longer any upgrades available that have official support. PCI options exist but are overpriced and very limited, so a system based on this motherboard is still stuck in last decade for video.

Other Thoughts: This motherboard has made me an ASUS fan.

5 out of 5 eggsStill Running

Pros: Very Configurable and fast for its day.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This motherboard is still running, I purchased it in 2004 and its 2013 now and I'm still using it for a light gaming and video editing workstation.

5 out of 5 eggsOUTSTANDING

Comments: I have finally built up my home-brew kluge-box to just where I want it. This is my first ASUS mobo, purchased especially for my new P4 3.4E cpu and it is really great. I did install an aeroCool High Tower cooler with TWO fans to keep this beast cool. I had to install the cooler BEFORE putting the mobo into the case. You may have to download a few driver updates from the ASUS website. Also, ASUS tech support is on-line until midnight Eastern Time. This mobo will allow you to tweak any and all aspects of operation in your system! And I am REALLY getting tired of NewEgg getting product to me 2-or-3 days before I expect it to arrive!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Design, easy install

Comments: The last PC I built from scratch was based on an 8080 chip - so it's been a while and I was nervous. This motherboard was unbelievably simple to install, thanks to an elegant design and great instructions. I've got a bootable S-ATA terrabyte RAID array working brilliantly off the Intel controller, and another terrabyte IDE RAID on the Promise controller. Couldn't be happier. It exceeded my expectations and I can't recommend highly enough.

1 out of 5 eggsProblems

Comments: Since I installed this board my CPU temps have been ridiculous. I dont know what they were before but I cant even play games on here anymore I hit about 150-155F just idle and about 180F with a game running. I plan on replacing the heatsink to help but dont know yet. The link is a screen of the temps from the Asus PC Probe. As always newegg got it too me fast .

4 out of 5 eggsgreat mobo, except for one minor problem

Comments: about 4 months ago or so, the USB ports suddenly stopped working. the front two, and the rear four. i tried putting in a new USB plate, that came with 4 horizontal ports (came with the mobo) and it connected and the machine said they were all working properly, but when i attempted to connect a device - the machine either froze, or stated an unknown device had been connected and to remove it.

i'm baffeled, i've formatted numerous times, updated drivers, etc. etc. - nothing works.

the mobo functions fine, just the USB ports refuse to work. i'm forced to network two computers and connect all my USB devices (printer, webcam, digital camera, etc.) to that machine in order to use it.

1 out of 5 eggs

Comments: The reason I gave this one star is the lack of drivers. You must go to their web site download the drivers and flash them. Like I know how to do that!!!! This was my 6th computer to build. It was going to be mine and I wanted it to be awsome. Everytime I've strayed away from MXX motherboards I've had problems. If your a Guru them you'll be OK. But if your just an average person with only moderate computer skills then don't even think about an ASUS motherboard.

3 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I got this board as a replacement for a P4C800-Deluxe that I got November 2003 that died on me a year later. This board has been running good, however 2 months ago the on-board NIC died... this may be the last ASUS board I buy.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I didn't really need this kind of extravagance but this thing is definitely sweet. Great package, plenty of goodies in hermetic plastic bags to go with the board which itself is loaded with a plethora of gizmos, jumpers, sockets, and ports I'll only possibly be able to fully utilize. It's like the freakin' Rolls Royce of the socket 478 boards.
