4 out of 5 eggsNot for Core 2 Duo

Pros: Worked great with P4 630, nice o'clocking (currently @ 3.2 Ghz).

Cons: No Core 2 Duo support, you must buy the revision 2.0 to use a Core 2 Duo. I purchased this mobo 9 months ago so I could upgrade to a 1066 FSB processor in the future. Now that I'm ready to upgrade to a 1066 Core 2 Duo, I found out that THIS version mobo doesnt support it and I must RMA it ASUS to get a R2.0 in exchange.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to get the "ASUS P5LD2-VM R2.0 (GREEN) Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 945G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard" if you want to use Core 2 Duo. Its the same price as this version.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looked nice...

Cons: I could not for the life of me get this thing to detected a Sata Hard Drive. I had to RMA it for a different board entirly. BIOS also has alot of weird quirks to it and things that need to be ironed out.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after only 6 weeks

Pros: Have been a loyal ASUS customer for years. I wanted a Micro ATX form factor with just the components I needed for my project. This board fit the bill (but then again so did some other manufactures). I chose ASUS because of the reputation.

Cons: IT DIED! Maybe I should expect some failures once in a while, but I spent amost 2 months assembling this system and it died after only two weeks of power on.

Other Thoughts: I may go with ASUS again, but am confused by the RMA process. The Newegg online RMA says I need to contact ASUS and ASUS online says contact the reseller. I guess its time to make a phone call.:-<

4 out of 5 eggsDecent budget Mobo

Pros: Good budget mobo. Can't beat the features for the price. The onboard sound is good quality. Other than what's listed below I've had no problems with this board. ASUS regullarly updates the BIOS for new CPUs. Onboard video is decent for onboard video. It outperformed my PCI Radeon 9100 card.

Cons: It took me a while to get it working. I initially couldn't get it to recognize my 2 PATA HDDs and my 2 ODDs. Eventually I got it working with 1 PATA HDD and 1 ODD on the same cable. Once I got XP installed and the mobo drivers installed I was able to get my 2 HDDs and 2 ODDs working without problems.
This board has a problem with overclocking the Pentium D805. I can oc the FSB from 133 to 160 without any problems. It has increasing stability problems between 161 and 164 and will not POST at anything above 164. This seems to be a recurring problem with D805 overclockers. I'm running OCd to 3.21 Ghz which I'm happy with but it would be nice to go higher.

Other Thoughts: This is my first homebuilt computer. My system is as follows:

CPU: Pentium D805 (OCd to 3.21 Ghz)
RAM: 1 Gig (2x 512MB) of Corsair Value Select in dual channel mode
Graphics: Hightech Radeon X1800GTO
Hard Disk: Samsung SP2504C (250GB SATA), Maxtor 9 (15 GB PATA)
Optical Drives: Samsung CD-RW SW-252S, Hitachi DVD ROM GDR8162B
PSU: Sunbeam PSU-BKS-480-US 480Watts (Adequate for onboard video but not enough for newer PCI-e graphics cards)

4 out of 5 eggsIt fired up first time

Pros: It works as advertised

Cons: Minor complaints. The IDE and power plug in are pretty close. The documentaion on the power switch, IDE led. power led, chassy speaker plug in positions could be clearer

Other Thoughts: I really appreciate the reviews other people have left. This was an easy build thanks to the input from everyone else. Thanks

4 out of 5 eggsGood Board

Pros: Tech support was very helpful. This was the first mobo I have installed. The computer has been running for a week now and it really is a joy to use.

Cons: USB ports are a bit tight together. I might get an add on card (had one on my last 'puter for the same reason).

Other Thoughts: Check the web site for recommended memory. I didn't have any problems but wish I had seen their list before I bought my memory (which wasn't listed).

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Solid

Cons: None noticed

Other Thoughts: This MOBO is totally solid. I’ve been using it for months now and it is great. I had heartache with my original setup/transfer, but it was all user error. It sucks when you have no one to blame but yourself. BTW, don’t bash good products when I am the glitch.

Of course it would be great to have more slots, but video and Ethernet are integrated, so those are two open slots.

I set it up with a new Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield 533MHz FSB 2 x 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Dual Core,EM64T Processor and CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory. Everyone who has come over and used my machine has noticed the boost in speed and awesomeness.

It don’t run hot, even in the South.
