Corsair's XMS (Xtreme Memory Speed) memory has long been popular among enthusiasts. Corsair has many such kits, and each is regarded as some of the best available in its category. With 2GB (2 x 1 GB) of memory in dual channel configuration running at 800MHZ speed, this CORSAIR XMS 2GB DDR2 SDRAM System Memory, offers targeted low latencies of 5-5-5-18 at JEDEC standard speeds, overclockable to 4-4-4-12, and it's been certified as “SLI Ready”, giving you some screaming data transfer rates and exquisite renderings.
These modules are made by Corsair using carefully inspected and matched RAMs. Running in dual channel mode, the module provides 12.8GB/s worth of memory bandwidth which happens to be exactly what the dual core Socket AM2 Athlon64 X2/FX processors need. What a coincidence.
This is memory that’ll both overclock and stay cool, thanks to their huge black heatspreaders. This is a great kit for anyone wanting to max out their system’s performance!

Corsair is cutting corners...
- Pros: Runs at 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1V with no errors in memtest 86+ on my Intel 975 XBX2. Should be fine for your average user.
- Cons: Probably not for overclocking. Corsair pulled a bait and switch. They used high quality Micron D9 ICs in the early revisions that were sent to reviewers. They then switched to garbage ProMOS ICs that you typically find in el cheapo RAM so they could make more money. This is extremely deceptive and scummy on their part, and probably explains the high defect rate that others are reporting with this memory. I only learned about this recently, and feel a little bit ripped off.
- Other Thoughts: The rebate is nice, but at its core this is basically value RAM that should already be cheap in the first place.
DOA
- Pros: I Love Corsair, or rather as of yet have been really impressed with them, but...
- Cons: I had a DOA. One of the two RAM sticks I had registered over 13,000 Memtest errors. Sometimes it happens, but here I am one or more weeks with out a computer, and that kinda (Really!) bites.
- Other Thoughts: I really wished I would have been one of the luckey ones. Newegg rocks, and I am sure they will take care of me.

Manufacturer Response:Dear Vibez1115, We have been doing quite a bit of testing and data collection on this part over the past few days, and are looking for sensitivities to motherboard and/or BIOS revision. If possible, could you send an email to ramguy@corsairmemory.com, preferably with "Vibez1115 from Newegg" in the subject line? Let us know what board, processor, and BIOS rev you are using. We may be able to help, and the data will be very helpful to us. Thanks, Corsair Tech Support 800-205-7657

Bad
- Pros: It worked fine on everything except gaming mp.
- Cons: Never did hold the timing that it's rated at. I kept getting "Unhandled Exception" errors at the end of Cod W@W, and had to use task manager to shut down, every time. I erased my game, after having every perk and rank, painful decision. And it didn't help! It would freezr off and on and give me errors, that had no explanation. Finally it froze and corrupted my system. I finally did what my friends said to do a year ago, changed my RAM. That fixed it! Almost 2 years of problems, and it was this ram the whole time. Partly my fault for not running memtest. But didn't think I should have to. Corsair was good with thier customer service, no complaints there. And they did send me an RMA. But, it should've ran at what it was rated at and should've been able to handle gaming. It would only crash on CoD W@W, mp, so I thought maybe it was just the game, till it froze and corruputed everything on a different game. I tried another 2 sticks of this ram, and got the same errors.
- Other Thoughts: Maybe it just doesn't like ASUS MB's?
2 Years Solid.
- Pros: Since I purchased this ram to build my computer I haven't had any problems with it... Runs great.
Good deal.
- Cons: Does not run at the advertised Time of 4-4-4-12, I'd have to bump the voltage up, however, I'm ok leaving it running where it is at 5-5-5-15.
- Other Thoughts: Corsair is sold.
Another good product.
One good, one bad
- Pros: One stick worked one didnt
- Cons: Corsair wanted me to return both even though one worked. I sent just one back as didnt want computer down waiting for replacement runs fine on one, still waiting for replacement stick
- Other Thoughts: hope they send replacement even though didnt return both as requested
