5 out of 5 eggsGreat little player.

Pros: Tough, expandable, FM, plays Audible, light weight

Cons: UI & screen could be better, sound is ok but not great (Sansa Clip sounds much better). no volume limiter.

Other Thoughts: Player great for its time, these have been around several years. Have bought 3 of these. Gave 2 to my twin 6 yr old grandsons a couple of years ago. They were dropped, stepped on, covered with various foodstuffs (easy to clean) & used daily for over a year. One still works, the other died after a battery corroded in compartment.

1 out of 5 eggsThis is no good

Pros: Good quality sound. Long battery life.

Cons: The volume button is horrible. It'll burst your ear drum if you have nice ear buds. The screen broke when it fell out of my pocket. Very cheap and not durable what so ever.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this product. Its very cheaply made and will not last long.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very good player, 1GB internal memory for data use and SD for lots of music. Sounds good with a good earbud. The best of all i can use any AAA battery with it.

Cons: You can forget about the earbuds, though i never intended to use it.
Have to use a usb-miniusb cable to connect it to pc but it doesnt bother me since most of my things use the same cable

2 out of 5 eggsHard to like this player

Pros: one of the few remaining players with a full-size SD slot... great way to go if you already have a few SD cards lying around the house.

Cons: Battery hog when reading from sd card. sd card (loads from the side of the unit) doesn't load flush and randomly ejects with minimal presure. very bulky compared to what's on the market today. Limited custom playlists. Accessories are unsatisfactory quality. Doesn't take much to break the screen.

Other Thoughts: I want to like this player, but can't. I curse it everytime it randomly ejects my sd card

5 out of 5 eggsCompact & Powerful

Pros: The e140 is a great little machine. Bought 2, and both worked great right out of the package. Nice features are that it can take a 1 or 2 gig SD card for more music. They are light and easy fit into a pocket. Controls are nice and not to small. Also, they have an FM tuner which is also handy. They work well with an XP machine and Media Player see it as a device for Sync w/o drivers.

Cons: The USB cord could be a little longer.

Other Thoughts: None.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks FINE With 2G 45x Read SD Card

Pros: What's not to like? You can put the files in folders and just keep filling it up. Sound is pretty darn good - though I admit to getting some Sony buds to hear it better (and turned down the TruBass; yikes!). Volume is sufficient; highs are ok; all my vbrs work; battery life is decent; easy to read if hung upside down on my arm... <G>

Cons: Nowhere in instructions did it say you could put the files in folders. Hey - how was I to know? Have only done to one level, but that's enough to allow filling up 1+2Gig without hiccups. Could it go further? I guess I don't care. Also didn't mention the importance of having complete ID3 tags, but others here did. unknown artist? DOH!! Tag&Rename to the rescue...

Other Thoughts: Startup time with a freshly written 2Gig SD _High Speed_(45X Read) card hasn't exceeded 50sec or so. It's about 30sec when nothing has changed on the card. Looks like read speed is a big deal with this little toy, and the ppl complaining need to get faster cards. Really.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little MP3 player!

Pros: Price. Earplugs (great sounding, don't color sound). Size. Intuitive functionality (i.e don't need a manual)

Cons: The "shuffle" isn't a true shuffle in that when you turn off the player, the "shuffle" reshuffles and plays songs too frequently. If the shuffle remembered where it left off, you wouldn't hear the same songs so often. Sometimes you have to press the function keys very hard. Backlight sucks batteries, so set the time to 3s.

Other Thoughts: 2nd one I bought -- the first one I broke (my fault, pressed LCD screen instead of function key). Also backlight comes on when you adjust volume which is annoying listening to music in the dark, should only come on when a function key is pressed.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price...

Pros: Alot of storage capacity for music and personal files. Simple to use. Small and easy to carry. Awesome sound quality from the earphones.

Cons: Short battery life

Other Thoughts: Get some rechargeables and your set.

4 out of 5 eggsGood While it Laster

Pros: Excellent little MP3 player -- SD slot makes for large storage space. Included in-ear headphones passable. Onboard equalizer works well.

Cons: However, when I added a Patriot 2GB card, bootup times moved to more than ten minutes. Often, the player wouldn't boot at all. Also, the headphones eventually shorted out.

Other Thoughts: After two years of hard use, my Sansa is now dead. Also: with the equalizer on, battery life plummeted from 16 hours to 8.

2 out of 5 eggsVery disappointing

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to transfer music and voice

Cons: Not suitable for audio books. DOES NOT SUPPORT BOOKMARKING. If you stop it you have to begin at the beginning of the chapter or the book if there are no chapters. Fast forwarding is one speed only.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this as a gift for my wife to listen primarily to audio books. Tech. specs. did not indicate that bookmarking was not supported.
