So it runs a little hot
- Pros: This is truly a bad-boy kinda card even though it seems it was manufactured in a hurry to release. At the moment, the only competition out there is a WC/OCed version of the card and that says a lot. CrossfireX is more practical than SLI since you can CFX another 3xxx series (I chose a 3850 for some weird reason??)
- Cons: MAJOR overlook with the auto fan controller on the manufactures' part, but RT with will fix that with a few tweaks. my card was starting to get glitching in games before I found this fix.
- Other Thoughts: If you plan on gaming (which you will with this card) then get RT or watch various forums for the best fix for the fan issue; the fan stays at a VERY low idle even under load without a fix applied.
P.S. Newegg, ATI/AMD states that RT is an actual fix for this issue allow us reviewers to help!
It's now very good for the money
- Pros: Very good card for the money.
- Cons: Hot, needs 8 pin plug.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this two months ago and paid a lot more. It probably was not worth the price at the time, but is now. Of course the 4800 series will be out soon, making the price drop on these and the value go up.
an ok card....
- Pros: Shipped fast, comes with useful items in the box. New Egg was very helpful, I wouldn't shop anywhere else. Im serious.
- Cons: To perform well, you have to set the fan speed above or equal to 50%. Its loud, but I got use to it. The fan basically sucks. After about 1 month it would turn off, and then on resulting in freezing (when playing games like TF2). I have the best ventilation in my case and I have 2 fans blowing directly on it. Before the card broke, I sent in the Mail in Rebate, offered with the package. Little did I know, when you send in for the mail in rebate, you have to cut the serial code and UPC code off the box and send it in to Sapphire. Well, in doing so you void your 30 warrenty with NewEgg, because you have to send in the UPc and serial. Now Im waiting for my new card to arrive from sapphire. In my opinion, the mail in rebate isn't worth the hastle one bit. I'd rather deal with new egg and pay 20$ then maybe get 20$ and deal with Sapphire.
- Other Thoughts: I would have really liked to of had my card not break, I don't know who to blame ATI or Sapphire. The problem with me is I can't find a good manufacturer who makes ATI cards. With Nvidia, its EVGA hands down. But with ATI its a coin toss, or even better, the throw of a dice. I went with ATI because Im tired of everyone putting it down, I already have the AMD and the 790x chipset so I have a spider platform. If ATI/AMD wants to do better, I suggest they get new companys to make their cards.
AMD Phenom Black 2.5, Quad, ATI 3870X2, ASUS M3A Deluxe 790x, WD Raptor 10,000 RPM, Antec 850 watt PSU, Antec 900 case.
