Best DVD Burner out there

Pros: This has got to be the best drive out on the market from the best manufacturer on the market. Drive has read everthing that i put in it and has read it very fast. From music to movies not a single problem. Rip speeds top notch for both CDs and DVDs and very high quality burns on Ridata discs. And the bundled Nero software is among the best.

Cons: Only 16x DVD+R discs available yet? Cmon I want to use all 20x. And the drive is slightly nosiy when running but worth the performance and capabilities of this drive.

Other Thoughts: As with some of the other reviews I read, the SmartX smart read technology can hamper read speeds on some discs but you can download kprobe2 to disable that feature on the drive and also enable bitsetting to make a DVD+R appear as a DVD-ROM and hence playable on any dvd player out there. Another home run from Lite-on

can't go wrong!

Pros: This drive burns anything I throw at it. Had some very old 4x dvd-r that i never used because of poor burn quality, this drive burned it at 6x and Nero CD-DVD reported score above 90 with every one. I normally use ritek & ritek got same scores. Ripping speeds are way fast since this drive doesn't have ripguard to slow it down. I ordered a second drive i liked it so much

Cons: Only con I can think of is sound.
when the drive spins up to high speeds you can hear it.
If your picky about the sound it makes, lower your speeds.

Other Thoughts: It's pretty hard to beat this drive especially at it's cheap price and free shipping

Pros: None.

Cons: From day 1, this thing didn't work. I tried changing different media, suspecting that it was a media problem. And the final nail came in last weekend. It just wouldn't read any DVD. Good only to burn CD's.

Cant Burn and Live at low speeds

Pros: burn quiet so quiet it stopped working after the second week.

Cons: Burning Disc at 2.4x which some people is very important and seams like it couldnt handle the low speed burning.

Pros: Cheap. reliable, writes fast

Cons: After about a year of use, the drive door doesn't want to open. Typical problem, but, I'd expect it to do this a few years down the road.
