LiteOn's LH-20A1S DVD burner let you either watch DVD movies or record them. The ability to use all standard CD and DVD media formats lets you choose the media based on the task.

This multi-format DVD burner uses an SATA interface for high speed data transfer between it and the rest of the computer. This results in better quality burns and less pauses while watching movies.

With write speeds of up to 20X for writable DVD±R media and 48X for CD-R media this drive makes short work of any task you give it. SmartBurn technology avoids buffer underrun errors, automatically adjusting the writing strategy and running OPC to provide the clean burns and greatly reduce the number of wasted discs.

One sweet burner

Pros: I just bought two Lite-On burners - this one and the virtually identical model with Lightscribe. I'm used to running top line burners from Plextor and NEC but decided to go with these since they seem to be ahead in SATA technology. These have been perfect so far. They were completely trouble-free to install and every burn on every media type I've tried so far has been successful and fast.

By the way, I was a bit hesitant to get these at first because some people said they were noisy but I have all the high-speed options set and they are still as quiet as any drive I've owned.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: I have bought 4 of these, and I have not had any problems with any of these. SATA is very nice. Has read all my disks that I could not read with my old NEC.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have SATA cables, because this is an OEM drive - bare-drive only. But, most motherboard packages should come with SATA cables, and most new power supplies should come with SATA power cables.

Pros: Lite-On makes fantastic DVD drives! This thing works with any media I throw at it, it's fast, and it runs smoothly without giving me any issues. I didn't see the need to pay $100+ for a Plextor when this does everything I need it to do, and does it flawlessly.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Keep the firmware updated for media compatibility and such. Lite-On is usually good about releasing firmware upgrades from time to time.
