Thermaltake Element Q VL52021N2U Black SGCC / Plastic Mini-ITX Desktop Computer Case 200W SFX Power Supply
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Small. Can be mounted flat or on edge.
Good looks. Standard ITX PSU can be ugraded if needed. front USB ports are covered up with a door. Clean case.
Case Works fine if you use passive (fanless) cooled CPU's.

Cons: Very tight inside. Poor Air flow (has tones of holes). PC over heated a lot granted I was pushing it very hard (civilization 4). One hard drive can mount on the side so this will cover your right side vent holes.
The video card if you mount one in there will cover the left vent holes. Almost impossible to find a CPU heat sink that is less than 42MM high. That is all the room you will have to mount a CPU cooler. 42MM from CPU surface to PSU base. Back of PSU and back of front hard drive will almost touch.
Use either laptop hd drives or SSD's to keep air flow open.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these cases. The side case vent holes are the exact spacing to mount a 80mm fan to the inside. DO IT. The case is only good for passive cooled fanless motherboards. My passive cooled Mobo works fine. No issues I'm using it for a home theatre PC. Works fine but if you stuff it full it will over heat. I tried to build a portable small game PC. Case is in dire need of a front case fan or some other active air flow option. I drilled a blow hole in my second case and mounted a 80mm case fan on the top outside. Looks steempunk now. It works but I had to do a lot of changes to get it to keep cool for my civilization 4 PC.

In Win BP655 mini ITX case with IP-S300FF1-0 H Haswell Ready power supply, 8cm Fan, Black, TAC 2.0, Front USB 3.0X2, HD audio
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Light, good design, Easy to get to everything inside.
Geat air flow.
I had a Thermaltake before this. PC overheated all the time. Not with this one.
Blue LED for the power is very bright.
PSU is a standard for ITX cases so you can upgrade it if needed.

Cons: Great air flow means you are going to hear your fans. So if you have a noisy fan you are going to hear it. But that is not a real minus.

Other Thoughts: Blue LED can either make a good night light or will drive you crazy if you are trying to sleep.

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 ST1000DM005/HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5

  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: It's sata. It's fast enough. As fast as Seagate and WD. No issues. Good drive. Price was fair for the size of the drive and speed. Installed just like any other drive that I have had.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is my frist desktop drive from Samsung. Hope it holds up for a few years. I have had both good and bad drives from both Seagate and WD. Just have to wait and see how long it lasts. Glad to have in house with the other big players.
