Most Favorable Review

its just like every other review of this cpu

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ - Athlon 64 X2 Manchester Dual-Core 2.0 GHz Socket 939 Processor - ADA3800BVBOX
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ - Athlon 64 X2 Manchester Dual-Core 2.0 GHz Socket 939 Processor - ADA3800BVBOX

Pros: just like all the other reviews, what can i say dual cores, overclocks fairly well, cant blame the chip yet as a dud until i have better cooling and a better psu

Cons: the price seems to be going back up again grrrrrrrr

Overall Review: once an amd fan, always an amd fan, it was a tough call between another one of these or trying out one of the conroe/allendale chips

Wow, great upgrade for the HTPC

SAPPHIRE Radeon X1600PRO 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 CrossFireX Support Low Profile HDMI / SPDIF Video Card 100167L
SAPPHIRE Radeon X1600PRO 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 CrossFireX Support Low Profile HDMI / SPDIF Video Card 100167L

Pros: Wow, great upgrade for the HTPC. Mucj improvement over the onboard x300 I was using. The fan is rather quiet, I can hardly hear any more noise than before, I have deliberately setup this box to be as quiet as possible using traditional fans, this card hardly adds to it which was a concern of mine. Used the HDMI to DVI adapter just fine so Im sure once I get an HDMI Widescreen HDTV for this setup its going to be beautiful looking :)

Cons: I was a bit annoyed by the SPDIF being an IN instead of an out. I either misunderstood the reviews and Sapphires website or they changed it on the final retail version of the card as I was under the Impression it was SPDIF output for the sound via the coaxial cable, then again I could just be mistaken as it appears to be a Coxial input instead. Im guessing you run a short Coax from the onboard sound or soundcards outputs to the video cards inputs, then it runs the sound via HDMI??? IMHO what information thats out there is a touch skectchy, but I noticed theres a Sapphire forum so Ill be investigating further there.

Overall Review: Until I have a proper HDMI enabled display I can't 100 percent say for sure this is the way to go for HDMI, what I can tell you is that intially Im very happy with the card and if your looking for a future proof soloution for an HTPC running Media Center or the upcoming Vista this card is showing lots of promise thus far. If my thoughts change on this as I cut my personal teeth on it further Ill come back and post a follow up review.

Finally able to utilize Media Center as intended

Microsoft A9O-00007 WinXP Media Center Infrared Remote Control
Microsoft A9O-00007 WinXP Media Center Infrared Remote Control

Pros: WOW, Im finally able to utilize Media Center like your supposed to, from the Armchair :) Seriously though, the Wireless Keyboard and Mouse although functional were only able to be used on a surface, basically my coffe table in front of the couch, if I was not at the couch and wanted to change something etc.... I still had to walk over to the coffee table etc..... Now I can be in other parts of the room and have the remote handy as it drops into my pocket if I get up to do something else, very nice when you want to change the song playing etc.....

Cons: So far none that I can forsee, I just hope the few others that have said thiers died on them unexpectedly doesn't happen to me.

Overall Review: The only thing that I might change is a few button placements, especially the big green start key, whenever I use the down arrow key my fat thumb keeps hitting the start key and it takes me to the main menu of Media Center, not a dealbreaker but one that is annoying, in time Ill learn to move my thumb up a touch I guess

This board Rocks!!!!

DFI RS482 INFINITY 939 ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
DFI RS482 INFINITY 939 ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Wow, a sweet Overclocking matx board, took my 3800 to 2.7, if i had better cooling and a better psu etc... it would go further, alot of folks said you can hit 300 fsb or more with ease on these boards, i purposely underclocked the chip with a low multi and shot for the 300 fsb and got to 310 with ease so with a better psu and cooling I could ramp up that cpu even more

Cons: my only real gripes so far is the psu motherboard connector placement, you have to work your cabling around the cpu socket, depending on the type of cooler you have installed this could be a huge problem for some folks with a short 24 pin lead

Overall Review: there seems to be some problem with the optical out and my panasonic a/v reciever, taken the board to other optical recievers and it works fine, hooked up other optical devices to my reciever, it works fine, put this board on it and it bombs, so theres some imcompatiblity with the two, no biggie, dropped a sblive card in there as a temp soloution till i can get ahold of a coax bracket to try with the motherboards spdif header, if it still acts up with this reciever then its just between these 2 devices, ill get another reciever

once again this case comes through

APEX TM-302-3 Black/ Silver Steel Micro ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 300W Power Supply
APEX TM-302-3 Black/ Silver Steel Micro ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 300W Power Supply

Pros: what can i say, this is the 5th time i have bought this case for a matx build sturdy, not cheap steel like a lot of cheapo cases are made of, no sharp edges, nothing to cut you all up, psu is not the greatest, but hey, its what it is, if your a power hungry user then you will be upgrading that anyways or looking at a much larger more expensive case to begin with my only gripe is that it doesnt have 92 mm fans in the front, however a dremel and 15 mins of my time and problem solved done that on 3 of them

Cons: none really, 1 hdd maybe, i run very minimally on these systems, if you need more than one hdd and multiple optical drives, look elsewhere

Overall Review: like i said before, they should have put 92mm fan on the front as well, just use a dremel and your good to go

these are great solid steel matx cases, owned 3 of them

APEX TM-302 Black/ Silver Steel Micro ATX Mid Tower Computer Case ATX 250W Intel/AMD Listed Power Supply
APEX TM-302 Black/ Silver Steel Micro ATX Mid Tower Computer Case ATX 250W Intel/AMD Listed Power Supply

Pros: solid steel metal, no sharp edges, pretty well laid out design, overall great cases, the egg descriptions wrong on the psu, the latest ones being shipped have 350 watt psu's and have 24 pin/sata connectors

Cons: none i can think of

Overall Review: have had 3 of them, the last one has a better psu than the first 2, as long as supercase keeps making it ill keep buying for my micro builds
