Good solid mobo

GIGABYTE GA-G33M-S2 LGA 775 Intel G33 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-G33M-S2 LGA 775 Intel G33 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Great design, loads of features for the price. All capacitors are of the best quality and low profile.

Cons: Will not work out of the box with XP and AHCI or RAID enabled without slipstreaming the F6 drivers on a new XP CD (Both ICH8 and ICH9). The F6 floppy drivers do not work. Clearly it is the fault of intel's ICH9R driver as I have had similar problems with ICH9 on other boards.

Overall Review: I've used about 5 of these, but like I said above, if you plan to use XP and want AHCI you will need to become familiar with slipstreaming.

Most Critical Review

Avoid this model, not a real HW RAID controller

LSI 9341 MegaRAID SAS 9341-8i (LSI00407) PCI-Express 3.0 x8 Low Profile SATA / SAS High Performance Eight-Port 12Gb/s RAID Controller (Single Pack)--Avago Technologies
LSI 9341 MegaRAID SAS 9341-8i (LSI00407) PCI-Express 3.0 x8 Low Profile SATA / SAS High Performance Eight-Port 12Gb/s RAID Controller (Single Pack)--Avago Technologies

Pros: Since it doesn't work, I can't really think of any.

Cons: Not a real HW RAID controller according to LSI support. It is fakeRAID with a heatsink. This controller is SW RAID and relies on INT15 to allocate RAM on the motherboard for cache. If your motherboard doesn't fully support this legacy function IT WILL NOT WORK. You can create your volumes, initialize, and think everything is ready to go, but when you install the OS and driver it fails immediately.

Overall Review: Do not buy this card.

Great add-on for the Shuttle DS61

StarTech ST1000SMPEX Mini PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter NIC Card
StarTech ST1000SMPEX Mini PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter NIC Card

Pros: I installed this inside of a Shuttle DS61 barebone system to add a 3rd NIC. The Realtek NIC was immediately detected by Linux without any additional driver.

Cons: None really. Although it would have been nice if the cable between the NIC and the RJ45 jack were thinner as there isn't a lot of room inside the DS61. Not really a Con IMO.

Overall Review: I'm going to order two more for other projects I'm working on.
