Good tool.
Pros: Disk Duplication does work. Seems to work even on those pesky hidden partitions. USB 3.0 is the way to go. This tool is a must for techs who do backup and repair work.
Cons: Plug/transformer is big and clunky, and the USB port doesn't feel too sturdy, but haven't had any problems so far. Because it's all in the same unit with only one power button, you must power down the whole thing even if you just want to remove one drive. If source disk has read/write errors the duplication process will stop when it hits a read error- there is no way to tell it to "skip bad sectors".
Overall Review: There are two labeled bays: Bay #1 is the source disk, bay #2 is the target disk. Put the source disk in bay 1 and then put the target disk in bay 2 while USB cord is unplugged from computer and then hold down the DB button for 3 seconds and the duplicator will begin copying the source disk to the target. The target disk must be equal to or larger than the source disk to work. If it's smaller nothing happens but an error light. If the target disk is bigger then you will have some unallocated space on the target disk. You can then go into Windows Disk Management and extend-volume to fill out the rest of the disk.
Too slow
Pros: Very small and sturdy (all alluminum). Can be worn on busy keychain without getting damaged. No cap, no moving parts. Works as advertized.
Cons: 57.6 Gig usable. Works good for small file transfer, but if you try to copy 57 Gigs of data all at once to this drive it takes 380 minutes (6 hours) on rear USB 2.0 port. I formatted using Windows to make it NTFS as opposed to Fat32 it came as and I forgot to checkmark the "quick format" box and it took over 4 hours. Does not come with encryption software. No activity light. Difficult to format it back to Fat32- several third-party, large-drive Fat32 formatters either couldn't see or couldn't format this drive for some reason and couldn't find a formatter on manufacturer's site.
Overall Review: Might be a better product if it were USB 3.0. Comes with a small ball-connector keychain.
Pretty good
Pros: Has timer and remote control.
Cons: So fare I have not seen a fall over shutdown. So if it falls over I think it will still be throwing off heat.
Overall Review: I bought this model for the timer feature so that I don't forget about it and leave it running all night. It stands about 2 1/2 feet tall, and it oscillates. IT took about 15 minutes to assemble.
Good phone
Pros: Does not need power cord, just phone cord. Has speaker phone. Large LCD display.
Cons: None yet.
Overall Review: I got this phone because I am constantly on hold when I call a company. I can put it on speaker phone while I wait. The Caller ID, Speakerphone, LCD display all run on 4-AA batteries, so now power cord is needed. I'm not a big fan of a power cord for phone because my power strip is already full. Phone still works when there is no power in your town, but speakerphone and Caller ID won't work if you pull the batteries out.
it works
Pros: Low price, worked with my Windows 7 (64bit), and gave me a good quality video. I would recommend for the price.
Cons: When I first tried to use this product the Software kept giving me an error: "This movie is copyright protected. Recording is prohibited". And it wasn't copyrighted material, it was a home video! It appears Cyberlink's software is not that good at differentiating between home movies and copyrighted stuff- It seems to have a hair trigger.
Overall Review: Comes with driver disk and PowerDirector 7 from Cyberlink and USB device. You need to supply the composite cables and VCR. Cyberlink kept giving error about copyright which was wrong. I think this is caused by recorded noise on the tape. When I got this error I tried using a free video recording software, Debut Video capturing software, but the picture wasn't that good. So I went back to Cyberlink and this time I started recording a few seconds after I pressed play on VCR and it started working. I think I got passed the noise so that Cyberlink's copyright checker didn't trigger. The picture came out pretty good I must say, but the file it created was big. It was about 1MB per second of video or 2.5 hours of video created 8.8 Gig file. The file it makes is .mpg format.
Pros: Many features, good price.
Cons: First one was DOA. The Motherboard lights lit up, case fan turned on, but the CPU fan wouldn't turn on, and no video. Had to RMA it.
Overall Review: After RMA'ing the board, I used one from a different manufactuer and all worked good, so I'm guessing I just got a bad board. I'll let you know how the 2nd one works when it arrives.
WD 2T
took a little longer to get shipment, said it was coming from China, but all arrived and worked fine.
