AMD Athlon II X2 250 - Athlon II X2 Regor Dual-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM3 65W Processor - ADX250OCGQBOX
AMD Athlon II X2 250 - Athlon II X2 Regor Dual-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM3 65W Processor - ADX250OCGQBOX

Pros: A great jump up from a single core processor. Wow! I still run Win XP and it shows both cores in Task Manager. Excellent for multi-tasking, which is why I chose it. The 2 mb of l2 cache are great for getting loads of info taken care of quick. No problems so far...I'll run GTR2 while downloading in the background and not a single hitch. Very quick...price can't be beat. See reviews between this and the Phenom Tri-cores...most power for your $, as far as my research goes.

Cons: None at all...installed easily, first try...runs very cool...even at load.

Overall Review: MOBO: ASUS M4A785-M - got $20 off in combo with this chip..the board is GREAT...GET IT for best bang/buck. MEMORY: 2 Gigs Crucial DDR 2 800 for 40 bucks. PSU: Corsair 400 watt CX - EXCELLENT Power Supply. HARD DRIVE: Western Digital 500 Gig blue for 54 bucks. GRAPHICS CARD: ATI Sapphire 4770 - Newegged for $99 shipped...very best card for price in late 2009...get the Arctic Cooling version if available...GREAT card. WOW!

Very Nice...

SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Obviously price...I waited for a Newegg price-break a few days, and it came...$20 off, $80 total. Thank you, Newegg. Secondly, 2TB of space on a single drive, again, obvious. Third, in spite of all the talk about the 512k-4K 'issue', this drive works PERFECTLY FINE on XP with no special alignment needed. (I just threw it in...and it worked, see 'Other Thoughts') Oh, almost forgot...Samsung INCLUDED connector screws, which is rare these days for any OEM drive. Also, after 5 or 6 years of ordering with Newegg, I am still very impressed with their FAST(and often free) shipping. UPS and Newegg set a high standard in this area which any company would do well to learn from.

Cons: Manufacturers, PLEASE consider tossing a connector cable (in this case 'SATA") with all drives. YES, I realize it's an OEM product...but its a major pain if you've run out at home, and are left high and dry...and they're less than a buck to manufacture. Take 3 seconds, and just toss it in the box...simple. STILL five eggs, though.

Overall Review: Regarding XP...after connecting this drive, I loaded a 2GB file onto it...and it took like 5 minutes...I panicked. HOWEVER, after a few minutes it occured to me to check my OS drive fragmentation with Defraggler...and the file(which I picked at random) was in 18 thousand! fragments(of course due to constant rehashing of the last 5 or 10 gigs on my OS drive, lol). No mystery here. So, I found a relatively unfragmented file of the same size...and copied it to this SAMSUNG...took about 25 seconds. Fast enough for a storage drive. For XP users...if you must...you can use 'diskpar.exe' (NOT diskpart) to align for 4K. It's free. OCZForum has a simple, step-by-step article called 'How to Align OCZ SSD in XP'. It works for SATA drives, too. Newegg...do you offer 'online' gift cards of any sort?

New to LCDs...Impressed

SAMSUNG 2233SW High Glossy Black 21.5" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 15000:1(1000:1) w/ HDCP Support
SAMSUNG 2233SW High Glossy Black 21.5" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 15000:1(1000:1) w/ HDCP Support

Pros: Up until an hour ago I was a CRT user (17")...I took this out of the box...took about two minutes to reset my resolution settings for it...full 1920 x1080 HD of course...and WOW! I don't have any experience with LCD monitors...but this is great. NO dead pixels...beautiful contrast and colors. Text is very sharp...see below. Very easy to set up. ...and HUGE compared to my 17" CRT. Opens two full document pages side by side. This is why I got widescreen in the first place. It also can adjust aspect ratio to 5:4 and 4:3 for older stuff. Great.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: My video card is an ATI HD 4770 (from Newegg)...and it runs this monitor and all the games I've tried with it very nicely at 1920x1080. Make sure to reset your resolution in Windows if your moving up from a different size or a CRT, otherwise you will get everything stretched out. It WILL still work at lower settings,,,but it's BEAUTIFUL at full 1920x1080! Later...

Surprised

CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400 W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply
CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400 W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

Pros: PRICE: I scoured the web for about 3 weeks looking for a high quality, low cost PSU. This is IT. QUALITY: Far better than my old Antec 350 watt. The unit was very well finished...it had a perfect array of connectors to work on both current and last generation Motherboards. The cables are nicely wrapped in black mesh...and have plenty of length...fine for my mid-tower case. Solid power, with 30 amps on the 12 volt rail. Better than dual 12 volt rails if using only a single VID card. ALWAYS check the amps on the 12 volt rail for todays Graphics Cards. Don't have any doubts about this unit...you'll only need more power if you are running 'SLI' or 'Crossfired' multiple vid cards. See 'Other Thoughts' below.

Cons: Nothing. Unless its quietness is a problem for you.

Overall Review: With this PSU I run the following: Athlon II Regor DUAL CORE 3 Ghz ... 2 Gigs 800 DDR2 ram ..... 2 optical drives .......1 USB storage drive .........2 SATA hard drives and finally, an ATI Sapphire HD 4770 Graphics Card...this card recommends a 450 watt PSU but this 400 watt, 30 amp Corsair has not flinched. It's always good to have extra power...but if you are on a tight budget like me, this will be safe for your system...it's a great product...just don't expect it to run more than one Graphics card...or a very high-end single card with multiple GPU's. Otherwise, get it...and breathe easy. It HAS the stability...and it HAS the juice.

Amazing

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4770 512MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100277HDMI
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4770 512MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card 100277HDMI

Pros: Wow...what can be said....a solid card. No...my apologies.....it's a Monkey screeching FAST solid card! Compared to my old 6600 GT this thing ROCKS...and rocks HARD! wow! It's perfect on a mini Mobo..very small...VERY BAM! powerful. The Arctic Cooling fan actually is very quiet. I'd recommend the Sapphire for that reason alone. I haven't tried CRYSIS or anything yet...but it EASILY ran Far Cry at TOTAL Maximum eye candy. easily.

Cons: If it lasts then ZERO cons.

Overall Review: So far...it runs every single thing I've got at full res. And I haven't had a chance to play with the million options yet....I'm just still trying to get over how FAST this thing is. Running it, and my system on a Corsair 400 watt cx....though it recommends a 450 watt PSU I've had no issues at all. Installed and booted first try with my new system. Drivers in the box have worked perfectly so far.
