Windows XP install
Pros: Seems to work ok after hacking.
Cons: Doesn't work with XP without some hacking.
Overall Review: Hack to install. 1. Find irbus.sys on your HDD. Mine was in the SP3.cab 2. Find irbus.inf on the internet 3. Put them both in a folder 4. Add this line in irbus.inf (for me it was under MicrosoftHw) %USB\VID_045E&PID_006D.DeviceDesc%=IrBus, USB\VID_1784&PID_0006 5. Update the driver from the folder location and vola!
Epic Fail
Pros: It charges the battery.
Cons: I does not work with my Galaxy Nexus (listed as supported) or my Nexus 7.
Overall Review: There are several free software packages that do similar things. They tend to be laggy and I had high hopes for this (turbo mode). As an Android developer, I already had things setup. Maybe that was my problem? I think an average user would struggle with the setup, especially due to the developer options being hidden in Android 4.2+. Lots of potential. I hope they get this resolved.
Finally a solution
Pros: Works over existing cable One unit has a 4 port hub Does not require cable internet
Cons: Expensive if not on sale.
Overall Review: I have a two story house that was not wired for Ethernet. I've been using WMC for years, but always had issues getting Ethernet (TV) to our bedroom. WiFi and Ethernet over electrical did not work well, but this works great! I was initially concerned because I have cable internet, but it is NOT required.
Required Nexus Media Importer for Nexus
Pros: Super fast, smaller than it looks in the picture
Cons: Won't work without Nexus Media Importer
Overall Review: Like all flash drives, it won't work on a Google Nexus device without Nexus Media Importer or rooting tablet. Rooting voids your warranty, so NMI was a better choice for me.
Shell Shocker Debacle
Pros: It probably would work if it was the right board
Cons: It was shipped with an FM2 processor as part of the Dec.17 shell shock
Overall Review: So, somebody at newegg messed up and bundled the FM1 motherboard with an FM2 CPU as part of their Dec 17 shell shocker. After working on the CSR for an half hour, they agreed to all me to return it without restocking, but I had to order the right board and pay return shipping. The CSR kept rambling on about a legal disclaimer they have posted. Really? That's Newegg's response? If you package everything to build a PC together in a bundle, I think a reasonable person would assume you could build a PC. Not in this case. I've been using Newegg for as long as I can remember and I've never been treated this way before. Newegg, -1 star.
Nice HTPC Box-Ridiculous Warranty Policy
Pros: Low Cost Power Efficient Funky Blue LED Mouse
Cons: Ridiculous Warranty Policy - If you open the case you void the warranty.
Overall Review: There is a warranty seal on the case! I bought this for an HTPC box. How am I supposed to install my tuner card? I'm not sure they can even do that legally. Minus one star. Beyond that, it's pretty much what you would expect. A single 4GB SIMM, so that cripples the on chip video. There's a single available slot, so you can add another SIMM for a performance boost. There are some useful utils and the usual bloatware. Note: In order to completely uninstall McAfee you have to download their uninstaller. Mine was only sealed on one side, so if you are very limber you may be able to install a small card from the back side.
