This review is from: SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Pros: I used Kinston, Crucial, Corair, Adata etc... almost all brands of 120-128GB SSD, they are at almost the same price level, But put on my Thinkpad X201 which has SATA II, I can see the big difference between them.
So far, only SAMSUNG and Toshiba can reach 260+ Read/Write bench mark. Others mostly get around 250/130. Write speed is cut half.
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: This is the best SSD working with SATA IIREAD FULL REVIEW
Pros: I bought 2 of 4TB Seagate HDs, configure as RAID1 with HighPoint RocketRaid 640L in my NAS server, performance is really good. 80-100mb/s over 1Gbps network. 100-130mb/s over USB 3.0. The bottle neck is data route, not hard drive itself. Very satisfied with it.
Cons: Running hot with long time backup, 114+ Fahrenheit. with Highpoint Web monitoring Tools, I got S.M.A.R.T errors from time to time. Hard Disk Sentinel shows all OK. that makes me worrying and confused. searching articles regarding those failed S.M.A.R.T features. it seems not a real error or failure of Hard Drive itself. just Seagate Unique Way of SMART reporting, not happened with other manufactures such as WD or Hitachi hard drives. --- well, I'll keep my fingers crossed
Other Thoughts: Hard Disk Sentinel is only tool I found that can detect and report SMART with RAID confriguration.READ FULL REVIEW
