Price Buster
Pros: Price is right Low heat even at OC levels Great power even as a single core Can unlock to a Dual Core meaning you get a dual core for 40$
Cons: Not meant for high performance 2nd core unlock not guranteed (Requires specific Motherboards) Not intended for gaming platforms
Overall Review: This was purchased as a trial processor for a PC that was to be built for gaming. I was not able to get the 2nd core unlocked because the Motherboard did not support it. Still it ran fine, though multitasking was a bit shotty at times. Make sure you research which Motherboards can unlock the 2nd core before you buy. You could strike gold.
Not for Tinkerers
Pros: Great configuration/layout Supports Dual and single slot cards Onboard GPU is pretty decent Supports Dual Graphics with a Radeon Video Card (Research which ones before you buy) Has a "Load factory fail-safe options" if the BIOS isn't responding
Cons: BIOS is VERY finicky and often crashes when altered Would not post after a manipulation in the BIOS RAID for SATA did not function properly Had a USB compatibility issue when trying to configure Windows 7 Ult
Overall Review: I bought this for a budget gaming build and as long as I did not try to overclock or mess around in the BIOS everything was fine. But when I manipulated even the smallest thing, the computer would not post until I manually restarted about 5 times. Then I loaded fail-safe factory defaults and have not had any problems since. Be sure that when/if you buy to load the USB drivers from the CD or else you may run into a compatibility issue when trying to configure windows with a USB keyboard and mouse. Overall, this board is ok, but I don't plan on buying this particular brand in the near future. Gigabyte is otherwise a solid brand despite this one board.
Great Budget Card
Pros: Low Cost Small Size Excellent Overclocking Software Provided by EVGA Great Performance with gaming However...
Cons: Requires a powerful processor to play games Overheats too easily without proper cooling setup Easily damaged without proper handling
Overall Review: I bought this to build a low budget gaming computer for a roommate who wanted to play Battlefield 3 (BF3). The first card I got I had to RMA because it was overheating like crazy even after being underclocked. EVGA was excellent at helping me. The second card I got worked flawlessly and I was able to get 30 fps on high settings in BF3 with this card (10-13 on Ultra). However, this card cannot play games well at all unless you have a powerful processor and at least 6 GBs of RAM to accompany it. It's great for a budget PC gamer that doesn't need all the bells and whistles in his graphics. But for the graphics lovers (like myself), I recommend the Geforce 450 GTS or higher.
Low Maintenance but Too Small
Pros: Easy to Install Small (Your hand is probably has a bigger diameter) Very little Maintenance needed Decent Overclocking Features BIOS is not as finicky as some other models
Cons: SATA Drivers in a very bad spot Does not support Dual Slot PCI-e Graphics Card
Overall Review: Originally I had this for a roommate that wanted a budget gaming PC. His original card was a single slot GT 430 Geforce. However, over Xmas he decided to upgrade to a GTS 450 Super OC and that's when the trouble began. This board is just too small for the card and the card repeatedly pops out and the computer loses connection with the drivers. This is not the motherboard's fault so I won't dock it for his error. But I can't give it 5 eggs because it won't support a dual slot very well
