Foxconn nT-i1200-0H0WBNA Intel NM10 1 x 204Pin SO-DIMM Intel GMA 3600 Black Mini / Booksize Barebone System

Pros: Inexpensive, extremely small and silent. Fast wifi card and a silly number of ports given the size (incl USB3, sd, USB2, hdmi, vga etc). Included disasembly tool is worth 10-20$ on its own. VESA mount. Versy sturdy construction and nice looking,

Cons: It's not fast. Let's be honest, it's an atom based machine. It won't be winning any speed contests. But for the price it is not a huge -.
Directions-none. The manual is very odd. It gives a great breakdown of the bios and settings, but no directions interms of physical operation. Disassembly is a guessing game. For someone with less knowhow, this could be a real issue, especially for a barebones system.

Other Thoughts: A cheap SSD can go a long way to accounting for the speed issues, but I am extremely happy so far.

ASUS P8H67-M EVO (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H67 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: Easy to set up, BIOS update was very easy, very quick. SATA6 ports are at a right angle to board, which is great for cable management.
Decent looking.

Cons: Poor placement of the CMOS battery (behind a graphics card and cooler). SATA3 ports not at a right angle to the board.
First board was semi-DOA: The second slots of either channel were broken and would not accept a second stick of RAM. Board later (when I was replacing it) stopped posting. Asus tech support told me it was the ram, so I had to eat a ram-restocking fee to find it was the board. New board works fine.
Only one case fan header.

Other Thoughts: Would easily be a 4-star rating if not for the cost of Asus's poor tech support that cost me the restocking fee plus shipping to return what they claimed was incompatible ram. My last several boards were all Asus, but the next will not be

Fractal Design Define R3 Black ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

5 out of 5 eggs Top end case, at a mid range price 04/02/2011

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R3 Black ATX Mid Tower Silent PC Computer Case

Pros: Slick look, crazy amount of sound-deadening materials, HDD bays are tool-less removal and compatible with 2.5" drives with rubber gromits, decent cable management slots. Very quiet case. HUGE upgrade coming from an Antec 900.

Cons: Cable management slots have thes rubber gromits around their edges (good) but they come off WAY too easily. A dab super glue should fix it.

Other Thoughts: The power supply area has the option of facing the PSU fan DOWN through a grill to the case underneath area, BUT, if you are on carpet, the feet are too short to provide enough clearance. FOr he price, It would have been nice if they included some carpet spikes as some silverstone cases do.
