Fair drive for great price.
Pros: Picking this up for around $110 is always great, admittedly however I have not purchased a drive with a 2-year warranty… ever. I’ve always purchased drive with 3 to 5-year warranty. So I purchase the additional warranty from Newegg for this drive. What can I say, I was ‘trapped’. I wanted to expand my RAID 5 Barracuda XT drives and could not locate the original Cuda XT’s that had 5-year warranties. So I picked up this 3TB drive, performed a Full Format, ran Spinrite and Perfect Disk on it to ensure quality and performance. I keep an eye on my LSI Controller logs with this drive in the array and no problems after reconstruction, rebuild or consistency and polling tasks.
Cons: none as of yet, I am keeping a wary eye on my RAID logs simply due to my array now (technically) qualifies for a 'mixed' drive configuration.
Overall Review: Prepare any drive these days *before* writing data to it and hopefully the pain of a failed drive is reduced. -see 'Pros' I strongly distrust most drives on the market nowadays so perhaps an added warranty may be pondered lf your data is important. Also I implemented a rigorous backup ritual.
Double Jeapordy for me
Pros: 4TB and 5 year warranty does say quite a bit, however WD offers TWO types of 4TB Black drives. This one has proved to be problematic for me.
Cons: It was loud from the start, and was slooow. As usual, when I get a new drive I run drive maintenance utilities on it. The utilities showed 'no 64mb cache' and rated at only Sata II instead of Sata III. Although I purchased this drive during the holiday shopping season in December, I could've returned it to Newegg, Iron Guarantee and within the standard refund/exchange period. I instead RMA'd it with Western Digital. I chose to be 'billed' for them to send me a new 4TB drive and then I'd ship back the faulty 4TB drive. This process placed a $300 hold on my Credit Card and the shipping label purchased from Western Digital was under $7 dollars. I received the replaced drive, ran my utilities and it runs... ok. That's it, merely 'ok'. However it isn't loud nor does it make the 'clunking' and 'groaning' noises the previous drive did. Strangely, it still is not registering any cache on the drive nor is it showing that it is Sata III 6g. It's performance is merely 'ok'. I won't buy again.
Overall Review: I'm stunned. I have a WD 640 Black that is just recently showing it's 'age'. I also have Seagate drives in several PC's that are running incredibly well over the last years I've owned them. I run the same Perfect Disk, Spinrite 6.0 and other utilities to maximize the health, performance and longevity of my drives. The 4TB WD Black is my 'poorest' preforming drive.
Top Notch
Pros: Great job on the quality, and build for this Drive cage. I wanted to have a better option than the pricey Lian Li cage that offers similar functions. Not only did this fit my PC-A77FB perfectly, I truly believe the changeable fan in the front door of the cage is one of the best intelligent design features for this cage. I have this attached to my LSI Raid controller and have no issues. This is a MAJOR plus as controllers can be very 'finicky' when it comes to recognizing drives and untested/non-approved cages. Again, Top Notch job Icy Dock! I believe i'll pick up another one.
Cons: No security. There is no way to lock the cage as with the Lian Li cages. Also to 'screw on' handles for the drives is very.... low tech. Seemed very 90's. Again, there has to be some design that could've been implemented for the drives to not only make it easy to hot swap, but also so that the design reflected the 21st century.
Overall Review: Want better cooling for your drives so they last longer and need/want increased storage real estate? Pick one of these up.
Second purchased
Pros: I purchased a second Feit Electric 72328 LED flashlight here from Newegg. I cannot even grasp why some of the reviewers here are giving this flashlight poor reviews. At 2 other 'very' well known retailers this flashlight is getting 4 or 4.5 Stars from the reviewers. This second flashlight is just as excellent as the first one I purchased here at Newegg. I still knocked off an egg for one issue detailed in the 'con' area.
Cons: Even though this flashlight is sturdy and has decent quality I noticed one 'slight' flaw in my second purchase when comparing it to the first purchased flashlight. When zooming in on the second flashlight the 'hash' area is not as 'crisp' as the first one. However the 'button' on the second flashlight is more sturdy than on the first one I own. So... off comes an egg for the slightly blurred 'hash' area when in zoomed in mode.
Overall Review: Again, visit other online retailers to verify this flashlight getting 4 or 4.5 stars. One of the retailers A***** has plenty of reviews, but their 2-pack is a rip off compared to here at Newegg. The retailer C***** carries a 3-pack which is comparably priced here to Newegg and also has plenty of positive reviews for this flashlight. Use good batteries as always for 'best' results with any device. I use Tenergy premium as they hold more mAh than competitors and I have a great Maha battery charger.
A now 'solid' customer of ADATA
Pros: Many years back I purchased inexpensive Flash Drives with low capacity. My ADATA S102 Pro and a Corsair Voyager are still running strong so over a year ago I picked up another ADATA on a holiday sale. It was the 32GB model of the S102. Although I didn't 'need' another there were a couple of fantastic sales the holiday shopping season in December 2013. The rebates are a hassle but I dealt with them and picked up 2 64GB ADATA flash drives(one is the UV128 64G the other another S102 but the 64G model) at less than the price I paid for the 32GB over a year ago.
Cons: Although all the ADATA flash drives I own run very well, I do wish they had an activity LED and partitioning software. I use Partition Master Pro to format them to have the most useful format for me.
Overall Review: I visited the ADATA website to register my Flash Drives - which can be done via the QR code on the packaging. The website offers some additional software and the like as well that you may find useful.
Another reason I stay with GSKill
Pros: I've used the Ripjaws from GSKill on other builds, but last year I decided to try these. I was 'hesitant' at first due to the price, then I received the Newegg mailer that brought down the price to $95 for 16gb's. I bought two for a total of 32gb's. Prices have risen slightly since last September, so I am very satisfied in performance, quantity and price.
Cons: None, very satisfied.
Overall Review: These low profile sticks worked with my huge Spire TMEII at the time, and look great with my recent heat sink upgrade to the NZXT AIO -another great addition for my build.
