Does what it says
Pros: Plays all my media files. I am able to play my backed up BluRay movies without any loss of picture quality.
Cons: It would be nice if this unit could handle digital audio. I have to convert the DTS track to normal stereo in order to hear anything. In addition, the remote sometimes does not work unless I unplug the unit and plug it back in.
Overall Review: I am very happy with this device.
Sent it back
Pros: Inexpensive.
Cons: Dead on arrival. Caused a short circuit.
Overall Review: When I plugged unit in to the usb ports using the included dual usb parallel cable, I was immediately notified that my computer was experiencing a short circuit on the USB port. Tried it with the other computer and same thing. This unit is dangerous as it has the potential to have an internal short circuit out of the factory. This equals fire hazard and damage to computer systems. I don't recommend this product. I sent it back to Newegg, spent a little bit more and got a Maxtor external drive.
Over a year now and still works fine
Pros: Works well with all ports full and eight wireless devices going at the same time. I put a heavy load on this with gaming, several video streams from netflix and five security cameras. It's not broken down once since I've had it.
Cons: None at all
Overall Review: I fail to understand why people have such a hard time with this thing. I don't claim to be an IT guy but most who do seem to have a terrible time understanding how to keep devices connected. It's really not that difficult to set ports and static addresses if you're serious about keeping a stable infrastructure. Some folks give themselves a max rating of tech knowledge and then complain that they can't figure out this simple router. seriously. This thing has served me well for all the stuff that I have running though it. I'd buy it again if I had to but I've had it for over a year now so.. cheers.
Didn't save me from power outages
Pros: None since it didn't keep my computer on during a quick power flicker.
Cons: Whenever the power would flicker, my computer would reboot. This unit didn't prevent that from happening.
Overall Review: I'm going with an APC this time around.
Nice
Pros: Handles HI-Def Netflix streaming, online gaming and web surfing at the same time with absolutely no problems. Set up took under 10 minutes including setting up wireless security.
Cons: The blue light on top isn't my cup of tea. I might turn it off.
Overall Review: The relatives came in from out of town bringing laptops, iphones and other various wireless devices. My little wireless D-Link Gamer Lounge router got bogged down with netflix, web browsing and world of warcraft going on all at the same time. It actually halted all activity to the point that I had to reset it a few times. I immediately ran out and bought this thing in hope that it might handle the load a little better. It was the only brand that the store sold next to Linksys. I got it home and set it up in nothing flat. I gave it the same SSID name as my old D-Link and everyone and everything connected to it immediately and automatically. It actually surpassed my expectations by how fast netflix loaded up and started streaming the HD movies they were watching without a single hiccup! I'm really impressed with this router. My brother is going to upgrade his Linksys with this one when he gets home. Good Job!
I play WoW with these
Pros: Makes playing World of Warcraft more interesting. It even helps in dungeons and raids by allowing to see the depth of the AOE effects on the ground and how far things are from you. The image is crystal clear and sharp.
Cons: 1. My biggest complaint has nothing to do with the glasses but rather with the way World of Warcraft handles water and 3D. It looks bad. 2. When 3D kicks in, the screen gets a lot darker. I guess it's because of the way that the glasses shutter between right and left eyes at 120hz. I hope NVIDIA has a fix for this soon. My screen is super bright already and I think that turning up the brightness to compensate would damage my screen.
Overall Review: I wonder why Newegg stopped selling this? When setting up drivers, I had to uninstall my exisisting NVIDIA video card drivers, reboot and install from the CD that came with the glasses then reboot again. I loaded World of Warcraft and went to the video settings and enabled 3D shutter effect. Then I hit the option to auto configure my video settings for both normal and advanced and *Ding* the 3d looked amazing. I was in awe for a long time. If you play wow, turn off hardware cursor if you're having a problem clicking on things. I found that if I turned off hardware cursor, I could now click on things in three demensions rather than trying to use a 2D cursor with 3D objects. I love this thing! I just hope NVIDIA fixes how the screen gets dark when 3D kicks in.
