GREAT LOOKING BOARD,BUT...

GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Great looking board & feature set, looked nice in my Corsair Vengeance 70 case, the Gskill Ares ram blue matches the heat sinks too, matched with the EVGA 660TI FTW and Thermaltake 2 radiator- black, gray & blue just built & ready to start the install. Hooked up the EVGA 750 watt gold psu- and.. to be cont...-see cons-I really want to make it 4 stars -I will when I get good results- NEWEGG rocks

Cons: Got her all closed up, hit the power switch on the case and....nothing-silence, opened up the case & checked all the connections, laid it on it's side to watch.. hit the power switch again &...silence. The fans on the radiator, case & card spun a 1/4 turn & nothing.. the board power button was lit but nothing but silence. I took all of the connections off & re-assembled again. Hit the power switch..1/4 spin on the fans & silence. Hmmm. I called Gigabyte & their support person suggested that i may have a short w/ the case & to take the board out of the case & start the board up on the box. I started to do that..The PCI plastic separated from the board exposing the connectors. I am, not a nube, this is the 4th personal system I have built & I knew to un hook the clip. I looked at the PCI plastic pins & noticed no retainer on the ends-poor sub assembly. I called up the Gigabyte support & they promptly connected to the RMA dept. & we set up the RMA. No harm no foul-my last build was witha Gigabyte mid-high end board & have not been happier- great solid board so I will be sticking with the brand

Overall Review: Anyone looking to set up a rig try looking at the Vengeance 70 in flat black with the above set-up. I have the I7 7220 chip and a Rat-7 mouse w/ the microsoft natural key board. Installing the Win 8-64 bit OS, going to use the machine for cad/bim work & the occasional fps. The whole rig when it was set up looked fantastic aesthetically- No SSD but a 1T Seagate HD- I will update when the new board is sent & the rig running-hopefully the new board will work- first MB RMA for me-It happens

Don't bother

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 ST1000DM005/HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 ST1000DM005/HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Well constructed from the outside. Quiet.-RMA process is painless though they require you to pay for shipping unlike others....um

Cons: I have sent two back so far & awaiting my third on a via RMA swap. I cannot get a monetary refund, swap only. Win7 notified me of bad sectors on the first drive after only a week. The second drive- Win 7 started notifying me of hard drive failure. I installed my cad software on it & drawings on it and used it sparingly. I have a 1TB Seagate drive for my Win 7 install & a 1 TB WD Black Cavier for my Game installs- These drives run smooth & quiet & solid.- I don't know, maybe the third time will be a charm.- If the third one goes bad I guess I just RMA it again & again.....are these drive made by Hitachi?

Overall Review: This is not a total slam on Samsung-I have two Samsung plasmas a 63" in my home theater where I have my computer ported out(via Evga 460 GTX Superclocked) to the 7.1 receiver for Crysis 1&2 & Mass Effect 1&2 Far Cry-etc & it rocks! The 42" is in the living room for news & tv watching which is a greta tv, thier other appliances are great too. Anyone have any luck with their memory?
