4 out of 5 eggs Looks cool...has issues 03/24/2015

This review is from: CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard & Mouse Combo (Green LED Model)

Pros: Keyboard: Backlight feature can be turned off on keyboard so you can practice your typing skills. Dedicated buttons for media playback (designed for Windows Media Player but works with others like VLC), as well as system volume. Backlight is not overwhelmingly bright and looks really cool in the dark.
Mouse: The lights also look cool, and the on board DPI adjustment button is a nice addition. The back/forward buttons are my favorite part, as it makes browsing, file searches, and many other functions much easier!

Cons: The keyboard has a delay when coming back from a long pause or sleep state...when you press the first key, nothing registers on the has to apparently "wake-up" itself. Also, both the keyboard and the mouse lose their settings when the computer is shut down. This means that the backlight goes to its default "OFF" setting and the mouse drops to the lowest DPI setting. Just more annoying than anything, but the wake-up feature combines to equal one egg dropped off the score. Better step it up Cooler Master...could have had a 5-Egg review!

Other Thoughts: In all, I would probably buy this keyboard/mouse combo again knowing what I do about the cons I listed. I really like the light (mine is green, which is a throwback to the monochrome DOS days!), and the dedicated media buttons on the keyboard, combined with the back/forward buttons on the mouse make this a must have for under 30 bucks!

TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Connects you to wifi...most of the time.

Cons: MUCH SLOWER THAN ADVERTISED! On average, this device bounces between 11mbps and 54mbps and I am on 105mbps cable internet. I tested the speed with this device and received consistently slower than average speeds with my ISP. I hooked up straight to my router and found that my slow-down was being caused by my wifi adapter! Since then, it is unplugged and sitting on my desk.

Other Thoughts: I am running a TP-Link router, so you would think the adapter made by the same company would not fluctuate in speed as often as it does. This device constantly dropped or slowed its connection to my TP-Link router at a distance of less than 15 feet! What a waste of money!!
