2nd review, cant' take the heat

Tenda N600 Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N Gigabit Router
Tenda N600 Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N Gigabit Router

Pros: cost

Cons: heat

Overall Review: worked well in the winter, it now consistently has to be reset / hard booted now that the warmer weather is here. Having a fan nearby helps extend the reboot time to 2x weekly, without it requires 2x daily at least.

great entry-level AC1200 router/AP/bridge

BUFFALO WHR-1166D AirStation AC 1200 (AC866 + N300) Dual Band Wireless Router
BUFFALO WHR-1166D AirStation AC 1200 (AC866 + N300) Dual Band Wireless Router

Pros: - inexpensive - ac1200 speeds - simple firmware that supports router / AP / bridge modes painlessly - gigabit WAN port

Cons: - does not support 3rd party firmware like DD-WRT / openwrt / tomato - 10/100 lan port speeds

Overall Review: I am using this as a standalone access point to support the multitude of wireless devices my family now owns and it is perfect. Since we now have several devices as well as a couple of wireless-bridge access points that use the 5ghz band this will provide the bandwidth they all need. I am giving this 5 eggs since it can provide ac1200 speeds and router / AP / bridge modes at such a low price (I got this for 2 benjamin notes during the black friday sale) no other router can even come close even at 2x the price which mitigates the cons listed easily. some additional specs: - MediaTek MT7620A (2x2:2,bgn, switch 10/100-LAN/WAN) - MediaTek MT7612E (2x2:2,an+ac) - RAM 128Mb

awesome once you upgrade to dd-wrt

Linksys WRT150N Wireless-N Home Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE802.11n Draft
Linksys WRT150N Wireless-N Home Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE802.11n Draft

Pros: dd-wrt gives this router a much better feature set, including client-bridge mode which is great for non-wireless devices such as the xbox-360 and old laptops that don't support b/g/n. Works great as router-only with wireless disabled for use with another AP for small to mid sized home networks, or as an AP for older legacy B and G wireless clients.

Cons: The draft-n capability does restrict its capability a bit and newer APs will outperform it several times over.

Overall Review: This was given to me by someone recently who upgraded to a newer wireless router, once dd-wrt was installed I have used it as a router-only (no AP), as a client bridge and as an AP for older devices like laptops with G networking built-in. The speeds were not so good but did work reliably nonetheless.

retro style is a nice change

Citizen Strap Eco-Drive 180 Mens Watch BM8180-03E
Citizen Strap Eco-Drive 180 Mens Watch BM8180-03E

Pros: - smaller size / less bulk - lightweight - clean, easy to read font - day of week / date calendar display - 100m WR rating - eco-drive

Cons: - cloth / pleather back strap a bit stiff - limited band adjustment holes - low luminescence paint

Overall Review: Picked this up on a daily deal, a Franklin less a Benjamin :) Was pleased to see a smaller size watch diameter, it is also quite thin and lightweight (nice change over most new watches nowadays, huge russian-diver types) Very easy to read and adjust time / date, calendar is in Engish and Spanish. I noticed it does take a few hours (from midnight ~ 3am) to have the DOW fully cycle to the next day, not a big deal. It is slightly tight or a bit looser depending on which adjustment I use (I need a non-existent middle hole), once the band is breaks in it should fit better. It is a bit hard to read in the dark, not a big deal. cheers!

perfect for spotlight and trac-style fixtures

Collection LED 6 Watt A19 Light Bulb, Daylight Color (6-Pack)
Collection LED 6 Watt A19 Light Bulb, Daylight Color (6-Pack)

Pros: - instant-on - runs cool - daylight color - good price point - quality parts used

Cons: - forward-focused light

Overall Review: Picked these up on a killer daily deal (6-pack for a mere 4 Hamilton notes). Replaced CFLs in a 2 tree-lamps with 3 trac-style fixtures each in our living room, well worth the investment. No warm-up needed, it lights immediately (was an annoyance with the CFLs), fixture is only slightly warm to touch ( the 14W CFLs I would call "hot" in comparison). The old CFL were also daylight color, these are so close I cannot tell the difference. The only downside I can see is the forward-focus lens. The bulb is traditional shape, but 2/3 are for the heatsink/circuit housing so that limits use to spotlight and trac use. Newer ones are available that are only 1/3 are for the circuit housing and have a more traditional shape akin to CFLs so those would be preferred for standard fixtures, keeping my eye on promo deals - will have to head over to my local home improvement shop they now have some in stock. hope this helps, cheers all
