Smokin' Hot
Pros: Man what a case, talk about room. I have a pair of GTX 260s installed on an XFX Q9550. You do not have to play twister in order to make all of the connections. Slide out they mobo tray and install everything on it. Slide it back in to make the connections. Most all of the cables are hidden between the tray and the vented side. The header on the front is on the top making use of the usb, e-sata, 1394, and headset and mic hookups a snap.
Cons: The only con is that it does weigh about 35lbs. But once you set it up there really isn't any need to move it. The door is hinged on the left side which was a problem for me. Upon closer inspection I noticed that the door is reversible. I did not get any sort of manual and the web site didn't show that the door is reversible.
Overall Review: Ventilation is great. The top right side and the front door has a mesh like material. So plenty of airflow, especially with the 2 140mm and 2 120mm fans (front, top, bottom and back.. You can put two more 140mm fans on the bottom for more cooling. Screws not needed to install 5 1\4 or 3 1\2 inch devices. There is also an air tunnel under the bottom so the case does't sit flat on the floor. This I presume also helps with cooling. Going to add liquid cooling next. It's already set up.
Beware
Pros: I can't really give one now as I still haven't got my system running. CPU, mobo, and water block problems.
Cons: Not really a con. However I just got off of the phone with Intel as I needed to RMA this product. A lot of questions were asked and answered. I found out that this CPU will NOT work, at least for very long, if you use ram that runs over 1600 MHZ and 1.5 volts. I WAS running GSkill 2133 at 1.65 volts. This, based on tech support probably killed the cpu. The ram controller is built into the CPU and will not work properly over 1600 MHZ. Also I run a system with an intel 990x. The ram required for this CPU is 1066. At $1000 you can bet I will comply no matter what my Asus mobo says I can use
Overall Review: Just thought everyone should know. Intel will replace it this time but not again if I continue using what I am now.
No Movies
Pros: Seems like a decent player, if it did what it says.
Cons: Doesn't play DVDs or Blu Ray movies. I didn't spent $55.00 to just burn or read regular files. My last one was an ASUS and it worked fine. this one seemed to have more features beings my other one was 4 years old. Never worked but waited to long to request RMA. Sent emails to LG no response. Oh well only money. Did learn a good lesson though.
Perplexed
Pros: Fastest system I have ever had. Manual was great and easy to use. I have not nor do I plan to over clock this system. I updated my bios after I set up everything else because I assumed that the bios would be up to date. It wasn't. However no problems occurred. Overall a great experience.
Cons: None
Overall Review: What perplexes me is all the negative responses. I either I am extremely lucky or some of the writers are doing something wrong. Take Leroy for example. I am using a Quad core duo Q9550 processor. I am using Patriot 4GB DDR3 @ 2000 ram in slots 0 and 2. I plan on adding 4 more GB of ram. When I set up the ram I turned on EPP and the system read the ram as 2000 and boosted the voltage to 2.0 volts. It ups the voltage AFTER you reboot. I went back in and verified it. I called tech support with ram problems (defective) and the adult I talked to was very patient with me and walked me through what I needed to do. I think XFX and this board is getting a bum rap.
Extremely Quiet
Pros: To cut to the chase this hard drive is quiet and fast. I have a pair of 300 GB drives set up in raid 0 in a computer that I just built. These drives are even quieter that the two 150 GB Raptors I put in my old Dell XPS. I am running Vista Ultimate x64 and my boot time is roughly about thirty five seconds. It takes about ten seconds to get past the bios check. My XPS running Ultimate x32 takes well over a minute to boot.
Cons: None
Overall Review: The system I built costs of the following: Thermaltake Xaser V1 Intel Q 9550 Processor XFX 790I ULTRA SLI mobo Two GTX 260 Video cards Patriot Viper 4GB DDR3 2000 memory BFG 850 Watts PS All of the above came from New egg. So given the components that I used to build the system I did not want to scrimp on the hard drives. By the way a compareable system from Alien would have cost over $6000.00 dollars
