MSI
Pros: Good solid board - performs as I expected now that I actually have the build going - it seems the PSU was the culprit, even though it looked & tested OK - but the tester was WRONG! - Even the stock cooler is OK - no noise (& I asked of one person that has sensitive hearing too - as nine is NOT) Stock temp of system is 89F (with a room temp of 73F)
Cons: Troubleshooting - even MSI tech support was fooled into thinking the board was bad - I really don't blame them or the board. Took off one egg for the time frame of getting this all worked out. Was way to long for my liking.
Overall Review: Would have been nice to had another sent to me & UPS picked up the OLD one but NEWEGG doesn't do that. Ended up getting a refund & ordering a new board to speed up time frame. Then find the PSU is bad - wouldn't work under load. Cost me the rebates because of the time factor & not being able to get the barcodes off the boxes.
tester? maybe
Pros: You decide!
Cons: Says PSU is good when it is not! - what good is THAT? This thing doesn't even deserve ONE egg.
Overall Review: To be sure, just swap out the PSU
Needs M$ for initial setup, unless...
Pros: See Cons - once past this stage, setting up the printers was a breeze using the IP address. I set the print server for static IP so it will always be the same. I gave a 5 because it works great & sets up easy once you get past the M$ lockin.
Cons: Needs M$ for initial setup, unless your router (or something) will tell you the IP address the DHCP server assigned to the print server. Also, there is no docs on how to do the WEB access to set it up. But there again (from what I gathered), you need to know the IP address. To access, you use the address followed by :631. as an example... 192.168.0.100:631 as URL.
Overall Review: All in all, it seems to work great with all my devices that I have print capability with. W7 & Linux (fedora)
PSU
Pros: Was 80+ cert.
Cons: The cert doesn't mean much if the PSU is junk, though... Didn't work under load.
Overall Review: When in doubt, swap them out!
Good Case
Pros: Lots of room to work on & install stuff
Cons: Push button latches can be a bit tricky, but once lined up, will lock OK. Biggest complaint I have is someone "branded" the OUTSIDE of the case with "HAF" - just what were they thinking? (so minus one egg)
Overall Review: Compared to the "old" cases, all the "screens" take a bit getting used to. But for the sake of cooling, I can see it.
