Gaming laptops combine power, immersive graphics, realistic audio and portability. Modern iterations tend to be virtual reality (VR) ready and, with a solid-state drive (SSD), they offer fast installation and rapid game load times. There is a vast range of ASUS gaming laptops available, including those that fill the need for ultra-portable and ultra-lightweight devices, as well as more affordable variants that enable users to play recently released games with decent frame rates and refresh rates. ASUS also manufactures a range of premium gaming laptops, with all the bells and whistles that will meet the hefty requirements of new launches for the next few years.
When choosing a gaming computer laptop, one of the first aspects to consider is the quality of graphics. For high-end gaming, this means having a dedicated graphics processing unit (GPU) with dedicated video memory. QHD and 4K are standard resolutions for modern, premium gaming laptops because they can show off every tiny detail of a picture. If you're shopping on a budget, 1920 x 1080 resolution still shows off minute details and may even offer improved frame rates.
If you regularly take your gaming on the road, 14-inch ASUS gaming laptops are easy to transport and still offer decent power. You could add a larger monitor as well as a gaming keyboard and mouse for use at home, but take advantage of the portability of lightweight models when on the move. If you only move your gaming from one room to another, consider 17-inch premium gaming laptops. These have almost as much power as a gaming desktop but are easy to transport. VR gaming is more resource-intensive than standard gaming. ASUS' VR ready laptops incorporate NVIDIA® GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX480 or GPUs. They also feature a minimum of an Intel® i5-4590 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X CPU. They include 8GB of RAM, an HDMI 1.3 or DisplayPort video output and a minimum of 1 USB 3.0 port. These specifications ensure that VR ready laptops are capable of running Oculus headsets and meet the recommended requirements. They offer the minimum required 80 frames per second and have enough memory to support the headset and games. They will also play virtually any standard non-VR gaming title.
SSDs have fewer mechanical, moving parts than standard hard drives. Information stored on them is quicker and easier to access, making them an ideal home for the operating system and system files. You will find SSDs in gaming desktops, and they provide quick loading times and fast bootup when used in a gaming PC laptop.
