Choose a hard drive with a speed of 7200 revolutions per minute (RPM) and above for faster writing and access to data. The range of Dell's internal hard drive speeds goes up to 15,000RPM. A Dell SATA hard drive has transfer speeds of up to 6Gbps. For smaller systems, go for a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) hard drive to maximize speed. These drives operate at up to 12Gbps. Select a cache (buffer) of at least 16MB for speedy information retrieval. The cache is a temporary storage area for data that the hard drive is currently reading and writing, and its value is directly proportional to the expected overall speed and performance of the hard drive. When paired with enough RAM and a strong CPU, an efficient Dell hard drive ensures improved system responsiveness.

Dell Desktop Internal Hard Drives Increase the Storage Capacity of Older Computers

A Dell SATA hard drive provides up to 16TB of storage, whether your large files have to do with games or raw multimedia. Larger storage capacity and speedy data retrieval times are also crucial for running resource-intensive software, such as those intended for design. A Dell server hard disk, also referred to as an enterprise hard drive, protects against data loss.
