Yes. I have this motherboard and I am currently running a Geforce GTX 970 and it is working great. Just make sure you download the latest BIOS. I had issues suspending my computer until I did that.

Both slots do support NVMe. The main slot with the heat spreader has PCIe gen3 x4 lanes, while  the other slot only has PCIe gen3 x2 lanes.

Does this board have built in Wifi or would I need a network adapter?

Need an adapter. If the board doesnt have the to coaxial plugs in it or two gold connectors towards the top of the board then it doesnt have wifi and have to buy the adapter

It says this motherboard works with both Nvidia SLI or Radeon Crossfire to link 2 cards.  However, lower it says in box it has a SLI bridge, but no mention of a Crossfire bridge.  Can I use 1 from an older ASUS mobo?  Do I need to buy 1?

Help plz... we just bought this & a new cpu & used our old hard drive windows 7, we cant get it to load all we get is the bios & the keyboard & mouse work but then we go to re install windows 7 cause windows wouldn't load the keyboard & mouse shut off.. anyone know how to fix this..??

Microsoft does no support Ryzen CPUs for Windows 7, this was one way to prevent you by not loading USB mouse. Windows 7 will install if and work with Ryzen CPUs but you have to install it using a PS2 mouse. This is all I have heard, I opted to install windows 10 pro in my computer. If you have a Microsoft account and if you have had Windows 10 giving to you by Microsoft you can install Windows 10 and then log into the Microsoft account to have the key authenticate your version of windows 10.

is this motherboard compatible with first gen ryzen cpu's out the box?

It is compatible and I've considered getting another one of these to deal with a slightly unstable B350 motherboard from ASUS (about once a month it BSOD's),  I could put that 1st gen Ryzen into it.   I have to say this X470-F Gaming motherboard is flawless in operation since I built it.

Can the M.2 slot be used as a bootable drive on the ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming motherboard?  I am using an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor and planning to purchase a WD Black 1TB High-Performance NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD if it allows it.

Yes, I'm actually using that exact drive as my OS drive. You do need to change a bios setting or two but I remember easily finding that info through Google.

will this "X" chip set on this mother board allow the cpu to be overclock while the memory is also over clocked? with an intel cpu to get that you must go to a "Z" chip set on the mother board.

I have this motherboard with my Ryzen 7 2700X. I have my CPU at 4.2 GHz stable all 8 cores on air at 1.33 volts and RAM overclocked to 2933. You can do it manually, with the included AI Suite (AI Suite is buggy) or enable Precision Boost Overdrive within the Advanced BIOS settings.  You can also uses Ryzen Master as well. I believe so just because it's still an 8core 16 thread chip and AM4 architecture. I'm only running ryzen 7 2700x but have considered upgrading but... I'd rather go with a threadripper on my next build.
