yes, it is flat. 
But make sure that air flow is still enough. My exemplar is not really cold and if your box is standing on flow it could overheat.

Quieter than a jet engine.. but to properly answer this question you should have something to compare this to.

I like it and I don't think it is excessively loud, but maybe my case dampens the noise.

Easily. Its video cards that drain a PSU unit mainly.  google power supply calculator and input all your devices, hard drives, vid cards, mobo etc for the best answer.  I would use that for a business class PC, not a gamer rig unless you are not hardcore.

Yes, I am running a 980 TI with this which requires two 6pins and it works just fine.

You may need to upgrade the power supply if you every decide to crossfire/SLI however.

You could buy custom cables, but you'd only be able to replace the PCI-E and SATA cables as these are the only modular ones

It comes with 1 module connector with 4 molex plugs on the connector. 2 sata connector with 4 sata connector on each cable. 2 PCI connector with 4 and 8 pin connector on each harness. 1 molex to floppy drive connector. The 24 pin motherboard connector is attached to the power supply it will also fit a 20 pin mother board.

You may be able to get sleeved replacements for some of the accessory cables, but not the MOBO or CPU power cables.
