Will this unit replace the old model (CORSAIR RM Series RM550 550W ATX12V v2.31 and EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply) without having to change all of the wiring?

Most psu cables are not universal. But in the case of RM500 vs RM550x, you can use the RM550 cables on the RM550x. The connectors are the same. The difference is the x having the resistors that lower ripple. That being said, with x cables the ripple is so low that without x cables the ripple still isn't high enough to be much of a concern. If you're going to push the unit to it's upper specs, I would recommend the x cable. Otherwise you can use the RM550 cables that I assume you already have routed in you're case.

Does this Power supply support and come with the cables to power a dual CPU motherboard with 24PIN MB and 2 x 8 PIN CPU connectors?

I should have noted that it only comes w/ one 4x4 CPU cable although it has the capacity for two. Again, you couldn't use the graphics card connector as they share the same outlets.

According to Corsair's website, under tech specs, the power supply is 150 millimeters long. If a merchant doesn't technical specs, then you can get  it the manufacturer's website or looking through some trustworthy review site.

Have had some luck on newegg with a couple builds so far. Got this PS for a cheap work computer that basically just needs to browse and print. Picked up an AMD A8-7600Kaveri to go onto an ASUS A88XM-A/USB 3.1 FM2+ AMD A88X (Bolton D4) SATA 6Gb/s 2 x USB 3.1 (teal blue) USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard. Got everything in place, but can't seem to find the 4 pin ATX 12 V connector that apparently is needed for the board to boot up. Did I miss something crucial to my success?

THE EPS connector can be split apart.  So if you only 4 pin out of the 8 than you will be fine.
