Mine had a single stick of 4gb in the keyboard slot. I ended up purchasing another 4gb stick and placing it in the slot under the laptop.

Read a reviewer put in a SSD.  I need some help identifying what kind of ssd I need to get that is compatible with this. Laptop?

I would imagine most any current model 2.5" SATA drive would fit.

The drive that is installed measures about 7.5mm thick (and there is room to spare), it is enclosed in rubber runners that are about 10mm thick.

Based on that, I would think any 2.5" form factor drive 9.5mm or thinner should do the job.

Does it have a CAC reader slot? I am looking for a refurbished laptop as close to my old issued laptop as I can get.

No the this version of the T-420 does not have a CAC reader installed. That said you can add an integrated CAC reader from Lenovo or more easily use a usb type from a host of external vendors.

I believe there may be, since the computer had a bluetooth light on it, but cannot confirm since my laptop was inoperable when it arrived and I am still waiting for a replacement to come.
