Pros: Out of the box driver support for RHEL, CentOS, and Oracle Enterprise Linux as well as Oracle VM. Good performance and easy to configure.
Cons: Having multiple cards configured can get confusing for the NOC staff as one wants to overwrite the config of the other constantly and it is one keystroke away from doing so. Configuration interface is extremely dated...not in a nostalgic good way but in a "wow they are still using this?" kind of way. Command line tools and initial config are better with Adaptec.
Other Thoughts: Works well which is what matters for a RAID card...config could be greatly improved for both CLI as well as initial BIOS config.
Pros: Works great. Using it with vSphere esxi 5.1. I installed it to replace an LSI 9240 and it even recognized the existing RAID1.
Cons: none
Pros: True Sata3 controller = super fast with sata3 SSDs. Get the battery backup for this so caching can be enabled. Without caching, expect speeds to match the Sata3 SSDs. Turn caching on and speeds will skyrocket way above the SSD capabilities. 4 corsair force gt 60 gigs with caching on in raid 0: reads: 2.6 GB/s, writes: 3.2 GB/s. Without caching in raid 0: reads: 1.9 GB/s, writes: 1.8 GB/s. Needless to say, get the battery backup so caching can be enabled.
Cons: Price, Heat, Battery & the WebBios Interface. This is an expensive card. It runs very hot so have a well vented case. The battery doesnt come with the card, that would have been very nice. The webbios is dated and it shows. It's easy to use once you become comfortable with it but its definitely outdated. The heat, battery and webbios shouldnt turn anyone away from purchasing the card though. These are minor annoyances really.
Other Thoughts: Caching can be turned on without the battery backup in a raid 0 but that is at your own risk. This is a very nice controller.

Pros: this card is realy good
Cons: i wish there was drivers for old xp 32bit
im having a problem with this and i hope some body knows a fix for it.
i have this running with win 7 ult. sp1
when i boot the card gets an error and i always have to disable it then enable it. after that it works fine actualy it screems. so this means i cant run the os from my raid.
i loaded server 2003 R2 64bit and didnt have this problem so i was able to run it from the array.
i've try'd to find forums about this and no luck so far
Other Thoughts: LSI LSI00297 CacheVault Accessory kit for this card lets you use the ram for write cache so its a good idea to get it.
so figure on another $200
