Nice case, lots of room, one fan dead on arrival.

Pros: This is a review specifically for the:
Cooler Master MasterBox K500 ATX Mid Tower Case with Pre-Installed RGB fans, front RGB strips and Tempered Glass Side Panel

There's lots of room, Lots of space for hiding cables. I was really happy with how the hard drives are hidden beneath the PSU shroud and they stay really cool. It's really easy to get things installed into it.

Cons: The front bottom fan was DOA. The lights don't light up, and it's weaker than the front top fan while spinning. You can see it wobbling in the light. I made sure it was plugged in correctly and RGB pins are not bent.

I ordered a set of 3 Cooler Master RGB fans with this case and was surprised to find there are no adapter plugs for the 4pin plug for those. The fans that came with the case are cheaper versions of what I ordered and two pin. So the adapter that came with the case does not work for the extra ordered fans.

If you've got a Mini, there is very little space to install fans if you've got a bigger CPU fan and plugging in the board is just under the fans.

Other Thoughts: I have shown other people this case, it's nice, it's affordable and is really good with cable management.

Solid case but needs more RGB fans

Pros: -Tempered Glass side panel
-2 Front LED RGB Fans with adjustable light controller
-USB 3.0 front panel
-Simple design

Cons: -Rear fan is non-rgb black
-non adjustable fan speeds
-not compatible with CD/DVD/BLU ray drives

Other Thoughts: This is a solid case if you're looking for a simpler case. You cannot use any internal CD drives. The glass is tempered edge to edge held by 2 thumb screws. It attracts fingerprints but is easy to wipe off. The SSD is mounted in the top right in plain sight (a nice feature). There are plenty off holes to hide your cables. On the bottom are 2 x 3.5 drive slots out of sight. The 2 front panel fans are RGB which light up the front of the case and are controlled by a color adjustable switch. I do wish the rear was RGB but it is just a normal black fan, therefore, the middle and back of the case are hardly lit. Overall it is a solid case for the price, but you will need to spend extra for more RGB fans that will light the middle and rear of the case.

Good case for the price

Pros: Lots of space for any components you are looking to put inside.

Looks great in pretty much any setup/space you put it in.

Cons: When I received the case I noticed that the rgb fans in the front were strong in some colors but in other colors including red, blue, and pink the color seems very dim and almost not noticeable.

Other Thoughts: All in all if your looking for a cheap case to put into your build this a good option.

Nice looking case for the price, good options for mid-level build.

Pros: Nice looking case, very clean lines and built well. Plenty of mounting options. I actually built two different computers with this case, which is why it took me so long to review this item. The first build was all air cooling and the second was a beefier gaming system with liquid cooling. Both systems were easy to build with a case this spacious. I like how all the components went together well, everything lined up perfectly. I think that the case is a very critical part of your system build. You do not want to get something that is built like junk, has sharp edges and poor mounting options. At first I didn't like having the window at the side, but after my two separate builds I actually like how they came out. You just need to spend more time with the wiring and making things look tidy. This case also seems easy to clean. I also appreciate that there is a 5.25 inch bay, I still have a bluray burner that I use here and there.

Cons: While this case is pretty open and seems to have good ventilation, I feel like there is a bottle neck in the front, it needs to be a little wider to let in more fresh air. It's also a lot of work to get the RGB fans looking tidy and the 3 pin connectors will require a controller. I think that if you don't want the light show, you could get away with different fans and then you wouldn't need a controller. I was using a pretty large 850 watt power supply for my gamer build and it was a bit tight with all the modular connections that I needed to use. When I built my "general purpose" pc, I was able to use a smaller (in length) power supply that made for better cable management.

Other Thoughts: Ultimately, this is a pretty good case if you can get it on sale with free or cheap shipping. It looks good and will accept most liquid cooling radiators without a problem. I think that this case had some pretty well thought out design; the mounting rail for the glass, the space behind the mother board for jamming cables, the magnetic filter mount, etc. For the price it's a pretty good deal even with the slight con, being the entry cooling. I'd recommend this case to people wanting to build a mid level computer or mid level gaming system.

Nothing really stands out here...

Pros: • Sharp looking front end
• Reasonable cost
• Can house a lot of hardware
• Subtle glow on the power button
• PSU cover leaves enough room up front for a push/pull triple radiator
• Plenty of cable tiedowns in the rear MOBO tray
• Comes with front mounted RGB fans preinstalled
• Includes a rear 120mm
• Magnetic topside fan filter
• Removable PSU cover – nice touch
• All fan mounts are adjustable up/down for the mount (can be a real difference maker when cramming a water-cooling setup into a box of this size)
• Tempered glass side panel has a nice mounting rail/tray for the bottom of the glass = two less screws to fiddle with
• Tight fit, but you can run dual GPU setups in this box
• Decent amount of space for cable management behind the MOBO tray

Cons: • Cable nest from the RGB fans
• No grommets on the cable management cutouts
• Included fans are three-pin, so you need to plug them into the MOBO, or a fan bus for speed control
• Really tight fit for an average sized modular PSU
• Flimsy underside fan filter that has you tilting the case to the side, and then working it off the tabs for cleaning
• No thumbscrews on the PCI plane

Other Thoughts: The K500 TG is an average case with decent looks, but no exciting features, in a market flooded with comparable choices, some of which are less expensive by 15-20%. Not bad, but you’re only buying this for the included RGB fans, and isn’t a bad value if you can get it for less than the normal $75 price tag.

I’ll say that there isn’t a single negative feature about this case that makes it a deal breaker for me. It has all of the features you would expect to find in a smallish, tempered glass midtower. The front of the case is attractive, and allows just enough RGB glow to stay tasteful. You can run a push/pull triple 120mm AIO cooler up front, and still have room for a long, high end GPU (or two, if you want to cram). Speaking of two GPU’s, the perforated PSU cover assists a bit in reducing temps. The magnetic top fan filter is fairly restrictive, and my test build ran about 4-5* Celsius cooler with it removed.

While an AIO cooler is a solid fit on the front of the case, a Deepcool Gammaxx 400 is really close to your glass panel. Close but it fits. Keep in mind that cooler is average in size, so anything high-end/larger will be cutting it closer than you would like. Regarding the front RGB fans, they include the typical wad of cables that you’ll need to stash. There is no neat way to organize these, and while most will say that’s the price you pay for RGB goodness, I say you’re better off going with a single-color theme. Way easier to organize, considering the space you have to work with.

I’m usually pretty wordy in my reviews, but not a lot to say here. Nothing horribly unexpected, and nothing (outside of the tempered glass rail) that was a pleasant surprise. I’m not a fan of this size of case + the feature set, as I feel they are enticing you with a fantastic building experience for the money, and loaded with features you see on higher-end boxes. The reality is that when you try to use all of those features vs. interior space, it becomes a cram-fest, and a race to stash cables. I would love to see a box with the radiator cutout provided by the K500 TG, then dump the twin 5.25 hard drive spaces (now your modular PSU has superior cable routing + no one uses those big spindle drives in a showcase box). Then I would drill some ventilation holes in the GPU area of the tempered glass, which would allow a builder to use Cooler Master’s vertical GPU mounting kit – which looks awesome, and you wouldn’t have to worry about temperature issues. A finishing touch would be to route the wad of cables for the preinstalled RGB fans, with the tail coming out right by the port on the bottom left corner of your board. Now that would be a sweet, clean looking build, for sure. Something that you would want to show off from behind that smoked tempered glass.

So overall, outside of the included RGB fans, I don’t see any reason why you would purchase the K500 TG over a Phanteks 400 TG, or the S340 Elite. So not a bad case at all, especially for $65, but at the same time, it just gets lost in a very populated pack of “move along, nothing new to see here.”

Great Budget Case!

Pros: It's been quite a while since I reviewed a case on the budget end of the spectrum. I've always spent a bit more on my cases because I know I'm gonna use them for multiple builds. Cases tend to outlast other parts of you build by a pretty large margin of time. That said, I can't look past all the great things this model offers.

Just to be clear, this review is for the K500 model that comes with a mesh front panel, tempered glass side panel, and two RGB fans in front. There are MANY different models here so I wanted to make that clear.

I love the design. It's small, but heavy and well built. The tempered glass is some of the heaviest I've seen used in cases, meaning it's very high quality. That surprised me, pleasantly. There is room in the front to install a nice big 280mm radiator and still also fit in any of the flagship GPU's available today. That right there is more than enough to get most gamers interested.

Up top you have a really sweet magnetic fan filter that comes off very easily to clean. You can install two more 120mm fans there, which I do wish were included, but hey this is a budget case so I really didn't expect them to fill every fan slot.

You get one more 120mm exhaust in the back, which isn't an RGB fan. You could however easily install one.

I LOVE the included power supply shroud. It covers up your PSU and hard drives (except for any SSD's you may install up top) for a nice clean, tidy look. There is plenty of room in the back to route cables so you can easily get a clean looking system here, even with all the fans installed.

I typically am not fan of budget cases but this case really does everything most gamers and a lot of enthusiasts would need it to do.

Cons: This could be a deal-breaker for some. Like myself, as I have 8 hard drives installed in my 800D. What I don't understand is there is more room to install other SATA SSD's, but CM only included one bracket for them for use at the top near the front drive bays. They could have at least included one mOnly supports a maximum of 3 hard drives installed at any one time.ore bracket to give you the ability to install 4 drives in total.

No optical drive bays AT ALL. Now I know a lot of people don't use them anymore. But I would have liked to have the option for at least one. I myself STILL use Blu-Ray drives in my PC so not having native support for one really would irk me. You could of course, you an external drive. With USB 3.1 you don't have to worry about any losses in speed. That said, external drives are a lot more expensive. Just make sure you have a USB installation drive for Windows (everyone should!).

Other Thoughts: So I really like this case. I think it's best for mini-ITX or microATX builds, although you can also build a very nice standard ATX system as well. Just be prepared to be a bit limited with internal storage. Power users typically like to use a lot of drives, so you might be turned off by the fact that you can only fit three in here without rigging something. Other than that, I totally recommend this case. I'm really surprised CM managed to create a budget case that's so well-built and easy on the eyes.

MB511 REd Version

Pros: The Mid size tower case, has a one fan installed pushing air out the back of the case, and has room for liquid cooling either on the top (240MM max) or mounted on the Front (360mm Max)

Cable Routing is set behind the Motherboard tray with about .75” of space. The typical amount cable tie downs spots for a clean look. The Cable holes are Rounded metal to protect from cutting your wires as you feel them behind the motherboard tray.

There is a fixed PSU cover so you have to put the PSU in from the Back of the case. Helps hide the extra cables since the side window is the full side panel.

Front is a metal mesh, in black and were the red high lights are there is a think fiber mesh you need to be careful as you clean the case, feels like you can put a finger through it.

Top air filter is attached with flexable magnets

Cons: Lack of Fan means you will get at least one for air flow.

Weak fiber mesh / around color on cover.

Other Thoughts: ATX (up to 272mm width), Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX

7 Expansion slots

2 Combo Drive bays 3.5”/2.5”

1 Pre installed Fan (non-led)

Bottom Mount PSU

Side panel is smoke color plastic / Plexi

Color is black with a touch of Red on the front (other colors include Back/white/Blue)
