Who says cutting edge cool has to be expensive? Thermaltake's VA3000BWA begs to differ. This affordable case doesn't need any fancy words to show its edge of cool, one picture is more than enough. But don't think this is just another pretty face. With four external 5.25" drive bays, two 3.5" external drive bays, and five internal 3.5" drive bays, this case has room for whatever you need of it.
The side panel window has a 90mm blue LED fan for max light and cooling. It has two 120mm fans: one in the rear and one in the front, with an innovative mesh design for improved air flow to make sure the heat from this system is just from its looks. With all this, what more could be asked of it? How about the durability of steel to protect your investment? This is indeed the total package you’ve been looking for.
Mirror-Coated Lightweight Aluminum Case The lightweight, sturdy, all-aluminum Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA with mirror coating surface weighs only up to 6.0 kg and fits into virtually any space.
Maximum Expandability with 11 Drive Bays The Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA boasts four external 5.25" drive bays, two external and up to five internal 3.5” drive bays for peerless expandability.
Highly Efficient Ventilation A 9cm side fan delivers effective cooling for the CPU and graphics card while dual 12cm fans in the front and at the rear provide great airflow and heat dissipation throughout the case.
Easy Installation The Thermaltake Tsunami VA3000BWA features 5.25" sliding rails and slide-in cages for convenient hard drive mounting. Screwless expansion slots for quick PCI card installation and thumb-screws for tool-less access using the side panel, plus a washable dust filter for easy cleanup and replacement all add up to an extremely easy chassis to work with!
Maximum Security The security locks on the front bezel and side panel prevent unauthorized access for maximum security.
Convenient Top I/O Panel The convenient top I/O panel ensures easy access to dual USB 2.0 ports, an IEEE 1394 Firewire port and two Audio & Speaker ports.
Comments: I don't remember what the quality of the fans were that came with it, it's been so long since I replaced them. Come with a lot of extra nonsense inside for connecting all the extra ports and alarm functions. I removed everything except the reset and power switch, it's much easier to manage now.
Pros: I freaking love this case. I actually own the silver version of this case but its the same thing. I have had this case since 2006 and I have had 3 different motherboards in it. Lots of space inside, easy to move things around. I would highly recommend this case. It has great airflow. After owning this case for nearly 4 years now it has held up great especially for being so light weight and made of aluminum.
Cons: After nearly 4 years of owning this case the only thing that has broken on it is the side 90mm fan burned out. I need to replace that one. Also after I replaced my older video card with a GTX 260, it barely fits and I had to move one of my hard drives up a bay so it could fit. Can't fit large video card and hard drive right next to each other.
Other Thoughts: Overall excellent case. Unless you are planning on doing SLI or something you might want a larger case, this is a mid-ATX not a full ATX. With 3 hard drives in the bays, and a large GTX 260, it can get a bit cramped in there. Minor inconvenience, i've worked around it.
Pros: Looks nice, decent cooling, plenty of room to route cables behind the drive cages.
Cons:
The top audio ports were defective. The mic jack continually detects that you plugged/unplugged/plugged/unplugged your mic when it is plugged in.
Also, the right hinge on the door to the top jacks was broken when the case arrived.
I submitted an RMA with Thermaltake to get the top panel replaced.
Other Thoughts: Overall, the case is fine, but I'm really disappointed with the quality.
Pros: This case is by far the nicest one I've seen on the market. I have had it for 2yrs now it still looks and functions like new.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Well it's close to tax returns and after browsing hundreds of cases I will probably be purchasing this case again. Time for an upgraded desktop and give my wife the old one :)
Pros:
The exterior is awsome. It has like a glossy look on the Outside. On the inside of the case there are no sharp edges like you find in the cheep cases. Love the top Front USb Ports.
Adding the Dust cloth is a nice touch to buff the finger prints off. It pays to get a good case!!
Love the thumb screws, and Tool Free installation too..
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I have had this case for over 4 years and it still looks as good as the day I bought it. I tried to buy another case but couldn't find anything I like. I am now a fan of thermaltake products.
Pros: It looks pretty, and that's what I was going for.
Cons:
The door on the front is a little annoying, especially when you're troubleshooting, but I should have known what I was getting into.
A plastic piece attached to the power button snapped off while applying normal pressure. A little super glue did the trick... was not too upset as this isn't the first time something plastic snapped off a case. It's not a particularly expensive case and these things tend to happen.
The front door frame comes apart from the case a little too easily. Simply pulling the door open shouldn't cause that to happen
Other Thoughts: I went for pizazz but I should have just went with a boring case that was a little sturdier and less annoying. Sure looks good though.
Pros:
* Very easy to work in
* Came with a nice LED fan, and decent cooling ability
* Grabs considerable attention
* Front is strong and very sturdy
* Keys and locks are a nice touch
Cons:
* Didn't include enough standoffs for a standard ATX MB
* My case came with broken front LED's
* The construction of the remainder of the case is very flimsy (very high gauge alu.)
* Not long enough for a multilple double wide cards and an array of HD's
Other Thoughts: Consider a Cooler Master as an alternative.
