Does this case include the power supply?

Accepted Answer

The case does not include a power supply. I purchased a CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX power supply for the computer and it provides enough power for my needs. If you're going to use multiple graphics cards or a full case of hard drives, you may want to up the ante to a 750 watt power supply.

Question 2

The pic shows only 3 5.25 drive bays and 2 3.5's but the description says that this box has 4 5.25 drive bays - which is correct?

I didn't really pay attention to the listing, since I don't need many 5.25 bays, but I just checked. The answer is, frustratingly, both are correct...sortof. There are 4-bays inside the case, but the uppermost bay seems to be taken up by the front panel buttons and usb connectors, and whatnot. I guess you could put some kind of hard drive in there, but I doubt it would work well. Honestly, I think it's kinda false advertising to say there are 4.

Question 3

Would a Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 fit inside this? (W x L) (12.0" x 9.6")
this is my first build and I'm trying to be very careful that I get compatible parts.

The answer is not will this model of mother board fit but rather will any ATX form factor mother board fit. Yes this case is made for all ATX form factor boards as that is an industry standard. In the future look at the specs of items to see what does or does not work together. This measure will relieve you of most confusion about components and accessories.

Question 4

Would a GIGABYTE GTX 760 (11.61"L x 5.08"W x 1.69"H) fit inside this case?

Yes sir, the bottom SD bay comes out for more room--over the already large work area.

Does it have good cable mangement?

Yes, cable management seems pretty well thought out.  Flat space behind the motherboard allows a well organized ribbon of power or data cables to snake behind.  However, if you think you are going to just clump a thick round bundle of cables behind there, forget it.  Organization is the name of the game.  There is also a space behind the drive cage for cables.  It works out pretty well.  Let me reiterate, if you're a clumsy oaf who just wants to cram a bunch of unorganized globs of cables in there, you will get frustrated very quickly.

Question 6

I Can't get the front green speaker port to work. The USB ports work fine. I tried it with a different MOBO thinking it was the Audio header on board, same issue. No sound coming from front speaker port. I guess it might be the cable going from speaker to MOBO.  Any ideas?

Did you try flipping it around? I wonder if the label on the wires from the case to the mobo connector are flipped in the connection to the green port on the inside of the case. If you have already flipped them then maybe a bad connection to the green port on one of the wires like it wasn't connected well and you pulled it a little too much or something. It's definitely in the wires/green jack since both mobos didn't work. Try different headphones? Lol

Question 7

Can I replace the 120mm front case fan with something higher CFM? What's a good recommendation and how easy is it to do? Trying to create a positive pressure case, put a 73cfm 120mm into the bottom side, top side is blocked by my cpu cooler.

Yes you can. You may need to remove the plastic frame on the front of the case to get to the fan screws since they're behind that mesh. I was able to remove it when I moved from the Challenger to an ultra tower and needed the fan. As far as a fan suggestion goes, there's a prolimatech fan that is 140mmx15mm and does 80cfm, yet it has 120mm mounting location. So it's a 140mm fan that fits 120mm locations only. I have 2 in my ultra tower. One on the floor of the case and one on the front. They don't have lights but they perform well and are quiet. Not sure if they're on newegg though. Got mine from that site named after a big river in Brazil. Also, I've seen people set up the rear case fan backwards so it blows into the case and have the cooler blow upwards (horizontal position) out of the top exhaust fan. Doing this provides plenty of positive pressure without changing the front fan. I'm just not sure of the actual cooling difference doing it that way vs the traditional way, how the case came from the factory. One may run cooler than the other but you could probably google for that info. Hope this helps.

Question 8

I bought this for my son and the USB front never worked. I looked inside and the connector that came with it merged the two usbs into a single connector at the other end (10 pin) but the mother board has two vertical 5 pin usb connectors.... Am I missing something?

The front USB connectors must be connected to USB 3.0 on the motherboard to work USB 3. The connectors are not any form of converter just extended connectors for the motherboard. If you wish to have USB 3 and have none on the motherboard than you need to purchase either a PCI or PCIe card to do that for you.

Will I have to purchase a converter for my 2.0 motherboard or is that included with the case?

The front panel 3.0USB connectors are only comparable with a motherboard that has a 3.0 header.  There is no converter available to change the port to a 2.0 port.

Question 10

Is it possible to use the front usb3 ports with a PCI usb3 card, or must the mobo have usb3?

Seeing as how to usb2 and this one are the same price, I'd rather just get the usb3 version.

The connector for the front ports is the 20 pin USB3 connector.  In order to use it with a USB3 PCI card that card would either have to also use the 20 pin USB socket (and many of them don't as a way to save costs) or buy an adapter which in my opinion is too expensive.  I think you will find most cases with USB3 use the 20 pin USB3 connector which in my opinion is best but many add on USB3 cards do not (and you will have to research them in most cases to find out as many manufacturers hide that fact).
