how come when i look at the "same 1080 ti from asus these speeds are slightly slower?

The thing with these 2 cards is that they are not in fact the same, despite both of them having a 3 fan design.

As for the clock speeds, these are loosely controlled by the BIOS that individual manufacturers implement into the cards. I went with the AORUS version personally because of the price compared to the ASUS model. After playing a few modern games I have come to the conclusion that the AORUS version actually hovers around 1800-1900 MHZ by default during gameplay using the game mode in the AORUS software. Game mode is on by default as well.

My friend has the ASUS version and his clock speeds are a little lower on average, but his temperatures are also better as well.

Will RGB work if not on an ASUS motherboard?

Yes, the RGBs are software driven so you just need to download the software from the ASUS website. Last I checked, the software was only supported on Windows.

Will this card work with an ASUS crosshair V Formula-Z motherboard? If not what GPU would be recomended?

Any gpu will work with any motherboard. As long at it is pci-e 3.0 which all motherboards have past 2010. Are you talking about the Lighting Effects? Then yes it will work with the motherboard since they are both asus and have RGB effects.

Question 4

Which one is the input port and which one is the output port?  I bought this card from here and yes I'm new to building and unfortunately non of the documentation brings this up. In reality the instructions are pretty useless. All they tell you is to put it in the pcie slot.

Thats all the information you really need to  know as a builder.. Locate the "PCIx slot" on your mother board, plugin the power connectors from the power supply, then attach the monitor cable to the rear of the card in the DVI or HDMI ports. If your not understanding any of this I suggest you google it and watch some assembly videos on  youtube..

Will I get Destiny 2 code with it?

The deal for destiny 2 ended June 27. If purchased now you will not receive a destiny 2 code. However destiny is available for pre order for $49.99 on new eggs website which saves yah $10 dollars which is still a swell deal that they offer. If you do read this I am not a robot. Isn't that what a robot would say?  I ordered my 1080ti and haven't been let down at all its worth it for a card that will last for years to come.

will this card work in a pcie 2.0 x16 slot?

It will work but you will severely limit the available bandwidth to the card and it will run probably around a fourth of what it's supposed to, plus other issue will probably arise. The bandwidth of pcie 2.0 16x is 16 gb/s where pcie 3.0 is 32 gb/s. I ran this card in pcie 3.0 8x for a while because I had a m.2 sad that used some lanes.

Can I get this exact card just with 3 display ports and one HDMI or is this the only model?

The ROG 1080 ti cards have two HDMI for VR. I do not think they have any other models that have three DP. There are other brands that do have three DP.

Should I buy this card or wait for the "OC Edition" to be in-stock?

The "OC Edition" has slightly higher out of the box overclock than compared to this version of the strix but that's not going to matter if you want to overclock your own card. the aftermarket and FE 1080Tis reach a core limit around 2080Mhz provided the cooling is efficient. This card should be able to reach the same clocks if not better than "OC Edition" strix.
