One 4 pin CPU connector. 
Two SATA power connectors.
Two IDE power connectors.
And a small 4 pin with a IDE together on one.

Yes, this will be compatible for Gateway GM5626 computer.

You computer only requires 300 Watts, so this PSU will provide enough power and it will physically fit into your case.

Don't be worrying that this is a 480 Watt PSU,  your motherboard will only draw what it needs.

There are 2 approaches to this question that I like to take. 1 - as you are spec-ing out the build, you can get the voltage of each part - from the motherboard on up - including all peripherals and plugin cards. Once you have a total voltage - go for a power supply that has at least 10% more voltage output. Or 2 - get the biggest PSU you can afford. Seriously - unless you are doing a major game PC build - or high end graphics or music station - 500 watts is a perfect number to start with. A seriously powerful PC may need 1000 watts - but like I said - that is really high end. One other thing to remember - make sure the PSU you choose has the connectors you need! Good luck!

With out knwoing what mother board, gfx cards or anything else within the system is self I am unsure if it will suit your needs.. the power supply I bought was for a run of the mill. Average computer. It works well in the computer I put it in.  This power supply would not power my own personal computer seeing as I require at least 750 watts if the power and this supply is only a 480..

Assuming the pavilion 6736 is stock then it should work fine.. but don't quote me on that since have have no way to look up power useages atm.

If the power supply you are buying has more watts then the bad one and you are not adding any other parts it should work fine...

Short answer is Yes it will. 
Long answer is 99.9% sure that it will unless you have added a high end video card that requires its owne power, this power supply doesn't have a video card power cord so if you did then you will need one that does.

I use these power supply's in full mid and micro towers with issues only with the microtower because of the length of your cd or dvd player and if you use two players. Some times the cd rom or the dvd cdrw will hit the back of the power supply not leaving enough room! I usually install a smaller dvd cdrw (Length)!
