does this power supply coil whine?

I have the version of this unit that has a handle on the back, but I assume the electronics are the same since the specs appear to be. I have never heard any whine nor have I had any trouble with this power supply. My computer is fairly loaded, it has an AMD FX 8350 CPU with a Corsair H100i liquid cooler with 4 120mm fans, 2 120mm case fans, a Radeon 7870 graphics card and 3 hard drives.

Question 2

Is this power supply sufficient for a evga superclocked gtx 760 (EVGA 02G-P4-2765-KR)? The video card specs say that is requires at least 30A on the 12+V rail. I'm not sure if I am reading this correctly but this power supply only has 20A on the 12+V rail?

I'm not an expert on this, but tried to do my best to research and figure out your question (especially since it's relevant to me too). Best I can figure is that, because that card has two power inputs, it should be fine. The 30A on a 12+V rail is more for PSUs with only one rail. Since this one has four 12+V (two of which can be used for the card alone), it should be fine.

Again, I'm not an expert and hopefully someone with more knowledge can let me know if this is correct, but this is what I've concluded when looking this up.

Will this power two GTX 1070's in SLI?

That really depends on what other stuff you have in your computer. You can use pcpartpicker to make your build and see it's consumption. 750W would be on the low end for 1070 SLi

How reliable is this device? In other words, I've been using my machine as a 24/7 media server, and my 750w (CX750M) recently died, and I am wondering if this can handle 24/7 usage.

I have a 650G and it had served me well for over two years and not 1 problem. The 750 has a 10 year warranty so you can't go wrong. EVGA also has great customer service. Great PSU.

Question 5

I'm wondering how loud it is? I want to make my PC quieter and I was just wondering if this power supply would be even more noisy than the one I have already. I don't know the exact name of my power supply so if there is a website or something to help me figure it out, I would appreciate that.

This is a very quiet power supply. My tower sits right next to my chair and I can't hear a thing. Recently I removed the side of my case while the power supply was running and I noticed that it was impressively quiet. I'm very happy with its performance and silent operation.

Question 6

Is this power supply actually with all black cables like in the picture? I Googled it and everything that came up was the same power supply but with a handle and with red PCIe cables.

I have a evga 650 watt PSU that came with red vga cables but I also have the this 750 PSU and all the cables were black. I personally love the red mixed in with the black bit it probably depends on your build.

Is this 450W like in the name or 750W like in the model number?

my newegg invoice from August 2014 says 750W.  I just checked EVGA website and this model says 750W.  newegg web page must be a typo saying 450W.

Are they 120 mm fans or bigger? Does the fan count include processor fan? I think it should work but I would also Google computer power calculator and use a wattage counter just to make sure, also if I may recommend a different processor, the AMD FX 8350 8 core is amazing and the price is not too bad, its also am3+

Is this power supply compatible with a AMD Radeon R9 270x?? Second question will this also work a MSI 970 Gaming AM3+ AMD 970??

It should. I believe the R9 has a six-pin power and there is ample power to run it. The same with the AM3+... The caveat to this is what else are you going to be running on the system. Your mobo, cpu and gpu are only part of the equation. Fans/cooling, drives, additional add-on features as well as lighting (seems to be a trend these days) add up quick.
