Question 1

I have a Gateway desktop computer that has two removable drive bays (sleds) that hold a standard SATA HDD.  I've tried mounting SSDs on the sleds before and they won't mesh up with the connections inside the desktop.   Will this enclosure hold a standard SSD and fit the sled so that the SSD can be used as a removable drive?

As a desktop, it could be assumed that the SATA power and data connections are on cables... that aside...

The Dock opens, place SDD, slowly close Dock lid... it will slide the SDD into its interior SATA power and data connections and the lip will close and lock in to place automatically.

The Dock exterior SATA connections are exactly as if it were a 3.5 hard drive.

The Dock also mounts in any standard 3.5 slide/tray/mount that a conventional 3.5 HDD would go in to. Notice the three mounting holes on each side of the Dock.

I very much appreciate the manufacture quality and ease of use of these Docks, I ordered two more.

Is this powered via SATA or a Molex connecter. Not the drives but for the device itself to receive power?

sata ssd goes into the box, and this box slides into the icy dock flex cage.  the back to the cage has all the power in the back of it to power the box and ssd.  basically the box is a adapter to a 3.5 inch bay . it makes everything line up for the ssd and the flex cage.

will this bracket be compatible  with a pony 240 SSD in a 2008 Mac Pro HD bay?

The ICY DOCK EZconvert will work but you must use the APPLE hard drive tray that comes with the Apple computer. I have a 2008 Mac Pro and I just verified it will fit. The pony optima 240 gb ssd is a standard 2.5 inch SSD so it will fit into the ICY DOCK converter.  Once you have the converter mounted to the tray make sure all four screws are tight and that the top of the screws are level with the top of the tray .  Slide the tray into its slot straight and level, use a flash light to get a good look as you slid the tray in.  Use a #2 phillips screw driver for the tray .
