Do you need to use an intel chip for this kind of drive?

No, it will work with any motherboard (independent of which processor you use) that has a PCI Express x4 M.2 (NVMe) connector.  I personally have tested this drive on both the AMD Ryzen 2nd Gen and Intel Skylake platforms with no issues.
Many M.2 connectors will only support SATA signalling; you need one that is pinned out for PCI Express for this drive.  Check with the manufacturer of your motherboard or laptop to determine the capabilities of your M.2 slot.

Question 2

So Im looking into buying this 1 TB ssd. Currently have the Samsung 950 Pro M.2 2280 256GB PCI-Express 3.0 X4 MZ-v5p256BW as well as another 2.5 inch samsung ssd. I wanted to keep the Samsung 950 Pro, and replace the 2.5 inch samsung with the 1 TB 970 Pro. Is my system able to handle it? Anyone able to help me figure this out?

It all depends on your motherboard.  If you have two M.2 PCIe slots on your motherboard, no problem.  If you only have one, but you have a free PCIe slot, you can use an inexpensive adapter to give you another M.2 PCIe slot.
I am running a 512GB 950 Pro alongside a 1TB 970 Pro, using both the M.2 PCIe 2280 M-keyed slots on my motherboard, with a GTX 1080 and a 6700K Skylake CPU, and it seems I have more than enough PCIe bandwidth to handle it all smoothly.

Will I be able to install this 970 PRO into that Motherboard?

From what I can tell by looking on Newegg and in the manual for the motherboard, the answer is yes, the drive will fit - the morherboard supports the form factor 2280; also, M.2 x4 PCIE indicates  the motherboard is capable of running the drive at full speed.

Question 4

I have a 960 Pro 1 TB. If I get this drive, will migration work by transferring my windows 10 from my 960 to this 970 or will I have to reinstall windows on this new drive?

To be honest, I have only used the data migration once, but I had issues with the transfer of the Windows os. I had to reinstall Windows. I would honestly do a complete new install from scratch on a new drive. It’s iust cleaner, and less buggy.

Question 5

I was interested in adding this component to a dell precision 5540 mobile workstation. I noticed the dell ssd has two  connector notches where as the samsung 970 pro has only one connector notch. Will the 970 pro ssd fit/ is it compatible with the dell 5540 precision mobile workstation? Thanks

M.2 slots on motherboards are keyed to indicate what kinds of M.2 drives can be used.  Where the notch is on the left side of the slot, this indicates that the slot is "M"-keyed.  Where the notch is on the right side, this indicates that the slot is "B"-keyed.  If you have a connector with two notches, it is a "B+M"-keyed slot, and can usually take either NVMe or SATA-based drives.
In the case of a Dell Precision 5540, your product page will likely tell you what the device is capable of – for example, the text "M.2 1TB PCIe NVMe Class 40 Solid State Drive" may appear as your drive description.  If you see the terms "PCIe" or "NVMe", it is extremely likely that your device will support this 970 Pro NVMe drive from Samsung.
Use the Service Tag code on your laptop to view its configuration on Dell's website if you are still unsure.

What is the actual size in GB as reported by Computer Management, Disk management?
My current drive an SM951 reports 953.74GB and a Samsung 970 EVO Plus I have reports about 20GB less so I can not clone it.

1.72 gb oem partition and 260 mb efi

yes, you need to use cloning software that takes the reserved OEM partitions into account.
It is not really a funtion of the ssd, but the partition software that must be accurate.

Question 7

Would it be advised to use this product if you are using SAMSUNG 960 PRO M.2 1TB NVMe PCI-Express 3.0. Would they be able to talk to each other and will there be problems if I try to do this?

As long you have two M.2 PCIe NVMe slots available, there are no issues that I have encountered.  I am using the 970 Pro 1TB alongside a 960 Pro 512GB in the same motherboard, and there have been absolutely no issues dual-booting between the two of them.

What is the difference between the 1TB  MZ-V7P1T0BW and MZ-V7P1TO or MZ-V7P1TOE models?

The product ID numbers for the business and consumer listings differ slightly, with the business section listings showing IDs ending in "E" while the consumer section shows IDs ending in "BW". These may reflect a difference in packaging, but the drive itself is the same.

What is the form factor? Please....I look SSD up it shows 500 write speeds.. Is this the 2018 1 gen reboxed? same specs? Not compatable with X570 .. Might fit the M.2 slot but negitively impacts the other slots, and spped,,,Thank you

The form factor of this device is M.2.  It signals via PCIe 3.0 across four lanes, which has a theoretical maximum bandwidth of 3940 MB/sec.  In real-world tests under a small load with this as my OS drive, I get approximately 1800 MB/sec reads and 1633 MB/sec writes.
Using this device on an X570 motherboard will not create any speed bottlenecks with PCIe 4.0 devices present.  Rather, you're limited by how many PCIe lanes your system has available.
This device is still a phenomenal choice, considering its sustained performance under heavy load.  If you are looking for media production performance, like heavy Adobe Premiere use, this drive is perfect.  If your aim is great gaming performance, however, I would recommend the 970 EVO Plus 2TB model over this one.

Question 10

Will this drive work on an EVGA Z390 FTW motherboard, which only lists "Key M" or "Key E" for its M.2 slots? If not, which Samsung 970 Pro or Evo do I need? Thanks!
