Question 1

Hi: I have a Dell XPS 8500 which says it uses DDR3 1600HZ ram memory. Will this card work in my system alright??

Typically, Crucial memory and Dell systems have a good history of compatibility.  The best thing to do would be to look up the motherboard specifications by part or model number and check for the officially supported memory listing tested by the manufacturer.  Even if it is not on this list it may still work but be unsupported by technical support if you contact them regarding your system.

Question 2

I want to know how low profile these sticks are.  I see that there is that metallic part at the top.  Does that part interfere with CPU fans?

If I remember correctly, Crucial had the height of this memory posted on their website. The height with the spreader is 1.0"
I have Asus Z-87K motherboard with i5-4570 CPU and Zalman CPU cooler.
There was no problem installing memory in the first slots. Most manufactures of after market coolers post the clearance of the
 cooler on their websites. There is plenty room with stock cooler.

Question 3

Is this compatible with the Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 R1?  The part numbers here are different than what is on a compatibility chart.  The timings are fine for the board, but I would like to know before purchasing.

I have that combination of memory and motherboard and so far have had no problems. I would hope that that means you will have no problems, also Newegg were great when i did my build so when i did have to return a dvd drive they took it back at no cost to me.

Question 4

Would these be compatible with Acer ATC 605 UR2V?  I just purchased it, and the motherboard is an Acer 7869 (hopefully I remember this correctly).

I can't seem to find the motherboard when I search for it.  There are 2 things that would determine if these memory sticks would work both involve motherboard specs

First, you need to find out if the motherboard can handle 1600MHz speed memory, which it should if it is a newer motherboard.

Secondly, you need to see if the motherboard memory slots are 240 pin.  Most standard motherboards are, but I have heard of some that are not.

Has anyone installed these in an HP Envy 700 series Desktop?

I have not, but it will work, just make sure if you have a single DIMM from the factory to put the new kit into paired slots (typically ones in the same color). If your system already has 2 DIMMs, just plug and play.
