Does this table have a USB Port? I cannot tell from the pictures

It does have a USB port. The micro USB port used for charging can be used, provided you have the adapter, into a USB port to connect any device. I have used it with my flash drive and had no problems. The only drawback is that you won't be able to charge your Venue while you have a device connected to the USB port.

Question 2

I need an inexpensive tablet that acts like a computer.  I need to be able to access email; print and attach files from my browser - (i.e. - resumes and cover letters); and has windows.  Will this devise do all of that?

Yes, this device is capable of doing all of those tasks.   It is a standard Windows x32 computer system and has run everything I have tried from my desktop environment.   The screen is a little small for some desktop programs, so I bought a cheap fine point capacitive stylus when I am using detailed desktop apps (like file management).  I got a "Bundle of 3PCS Premium Branded 5.5" Thin-Tip High Precision Universal Capacitive Stylus Pens" from "Friendly Swede" that have been working very well.   The Win8.1 metro environment is useful for the small touch screen usage, and I use the built in mail app to send attachments from my gmail account with no issues.   The system has accessed my network shared drives and printers with no trouble as well.

Does the Venue 8 Pro have GPS?

No it does not have a GPS built in. I imagine it may be possible to pair it with a Bluetooth GPS, but I have not tried on mine yet.

Does this tablet come with full version or trial version of Office 2013?

This come with the home and student FULL version, (word, Excel, power Point, NO Outlook).

I had purchased this for my sixteen year old son for school, he is in a technical high school taking chem lab and so far loves the Dell VuePro 8. To answer your question yes it comes with outlook and office student edition

Will this device allow the installation of additional software such as onenote or other 3rd party windows software?

The device is x86 so it is compatible with legacy desktop software.  It really depends on the hardware requirements of the specific software.  Check the company's web site to ensure it is compatible with the Atom processor.

Question 7

Will the venue 8 pro run a java charting program?  I need this for my brokerage account and my Android tablet doesn't support Java.

It should be able to(I'll give a couple caveats in a sec). This is running windows 8/8.1 on an Intel processor so yes, you can run Java, and Java apps.  Now I have heard of 1-2 obscure business related Java apps that require an older version of Java, so I make no guarantees about a particular app, but if you can run the app on a Windows 8 desktop or laptop, then it should work here.

I know that the Dell Venue has a built in camera but we have a need to use a detachable camera so that we can take pictures inside machinery. Can you recommend a camera that is compatible  with the Dell Venue 8?

Do you mean Detachable as in a Web Cam type deal? So it would be tethered via a USB Cable? Otherwise any Digital Camera with a SD Card will work. The Venue has a SD Card reader built in. So you are good to go there. And it is Windows so it's compatible with whatever Windows is (Everything maybe?).. Otherwise .. Get a MicroUSB to Female USB adapter (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0PG06U1118 l) here on new egg with the Venue.. and try any USB device...should be ok with this Tab...

Question 9

Will this tablet fully support Powerpoint, meaning will I be able to embed videos in a Powerpoint presentation and have them play? Is this tablet compatible with a video projector?

For a projector you could possibly use Miracast wireless display, if the projector supports it (probably not).  Otherwise, you could use a USB to VGA/DVI adapter, also sold on newegg, to connect to the projector.  I use one such adapter to connect to a 24" monitor and it works fine with streaming video.

As far as Powerpoint is concerned, the tablet is a full Windows PC so there shouldn't be a problem... assuming you have the right version of Office that you need.  Mine came with Powerpoint 2013.

Question 10

Is this real Windows 8.1 that I can run apps developed with MS Visual Studio, including Windows Presentation Foundation and Windows Media Player?  How well they will run in this environment is a different question.

The Atom quad-core processor does well on light applications (Web browsing, email, etc) and battery life is very good.  The Windows 8.1 loaded on it is the 32-bit version and is backward compatible with legacy Windows 32-bit software (not RT).  I don't think I would want to crunch a large spreadsheet or play a game on it that requires a discrete graphics card, but it does well for what it is designed for.
