Go into Control Panel and System and you'll see that it is a 64-bit operating system. Also when you use Windows Explorer to see the root of C:\ you'll see that there is a "Program Files" directory, as well as a "Program Files x86" directory.

Laptop cotains HD Graphics (Ivy Bridge) which is up to DirectX 11 compatible. Even though DX11 capable, it is still at the lower line of graphical processors and will experience slowdown upon heavy 3D rendering.

Yes it is new. Lots of power in a three pound package.The Elan touch pad does not work well. Pointer is eratic! Tried to load a new driver from Lenovo and the anual orfaces changed my Home Page!!!  The touch pad stayed the same.Mine will have to go back to replace the touchpad. I probley got a bad one. I am sure Lenavo will fix it.  g.n.

Since there is no optical drive (CD,etc) you would either subscribe to the software in the cloud (Trend of future), download Libre office or other freeware(free), or buy an external CDrom  ($25+).

I am interested.  It is for my daughter to load ms office suite. She has a very nice dell now but it is big and weights a ton to carry around for college. What is your suggestion for something around 12 inch screen, quick enough and lightweight?

Honestly, as someone who had been shopping for the exact same thing, this is a great laptop. I had purchased another budget model earlier in the year, and it was simply too weak (struggled opening Word and Excel, had to take out an abacus and slide things around to perform regressions in Excel). For the price, this is a great mix of power and portability. I would recommend it to anyone as a campus workhorse.

can i able to use this with 240V power voltage?

Yes. The power adapter says 100-240V input 50-60Hz, so it will work anywhere in Europe. The power cord is an IEC-320 / US style for our market, so an adapter or UK version of IEC-320 would be needed to change the plug to the UK wide 240V plug. Note: the DC power input is a non-standard rectangular shaped plug into the notebook. The W8 touchscreen is great, but I have to say I am not a fan of W8, although it is neat once you get used to it.

For anyone who owns this laptop - is the processor capable of playing a movie from Windows Media Player while also streaming a video from the web? 
It's not uncommon for me to be watching standard def work vids in Windows Media Player while streaming HD content from the web.  This is usually when I work on the weekend - I'll stream football in HD via Sunday Ticket while watching standard def work videos.  (Come on, they can't expect us to work THAT hard on a Sunday!)
I was looking into grabbing a smaller laptop so I can be a little more flexible in my off-schedule work hours, so if anyone can let me know, I'd appreciate it!

Not likely. It does single video fine, but do not multitask too much or the video will studder. WIth 2 videos going it will probably barf. It is a really low power system not a workhorse.
