Would this laptop be a good for my daughter to use for collage? Can it do more then Play music and movies.

Most certainly. Though it would most likely be considered an average consumer laptop, it's definitely on the high end of that. The only thing this laptop isn't really geared towards is heavier business use, gaming, and higher end video and photo editing, but it can handle a good bit of stuff. I got this to replace an aging business laptop without spending a lot of money, and it hasn't disappointed me yet.

While a dedicated graphic cards are recommended for heavy gamer, this laptop is not too bad for mid-to=light gaming even though it has a integrated graphic card.  The graphics are sufficient; there is enough memory for decent speed.  This COULD be considered as "affordable gaming laptop;" but I am not entirely sure.

I love everything about this except the HHD. How difficult would it be to replace the HDD with an SSD? It looks like the device comes with at least one upgrade port, is it as simple as opening the port pulling out the HDD and putting in a compatible SDD, or is it one of those laptops where they want to make upgrading as difficult as possible?

On the underside there are 2 removable doors - one is vented the other is solid.  The HDD is behind the solid door which is secured by 1 screw.  Remove the screw and the door has little plastic tabs that keep it snug, carefully pull the door and the tabs will release the door.  They even give you an indentation to get your thumb nail under the door.  I don't see how it could be easier to replace.

Answer probably depends on the speed of internet as well; however, I had no problem watching youtube or other media in high definition, so far.

I would be difficult for me as a user to make an assessment based off your work load. It handles a good amount and the resolution is low enough. Id look at the benchmarks for the R5 Graphics Chipset
