Does this laptop have build in or removeable battery ?

The battery is built-in. That being said if it were to fail it could be removed and replaced.

Why does the laptop overheat? (I've had it for 2 weeks now)

I had a similar problem.  Go to settings, click on the icon that looks like a grey square with some vertical lines.  Change the setting from "overheat" to "just right".   Mine wasn't getting hot enough because someone at the factory had set mine to "undercooked".

Wait.  No, I'm thinking about my toaster.

I've run the battery from 100% down to 5%, had hour+ long skype calls, surfed the web, etc., and never had a problem with overheating.

Does this have an IPS screen?

No.  Only those laptops that specifically lists having an IPS screen will have one. I believe only the ThinkPad series laptops have an IPS screen. Go to the Lenovos web site.

Question 4

Can you expand the memory so it's more than 256 GB SSD? Anyone knows?

Just upgrade the 256 GB to a larger drive. I plan to upgrade to a 1 TB Samsung EVO SSD. 250 GB is rather limiting nowadays. I guess that's where Lenovo decided to skimp on this particular model, but at least it comes with an SSD drive at this price point- many don't.

can you run linux on this computer?

I installed Ubuntu 16.04.  You'll need the latest kernel updates for the touchpad to work post install.  So far so good.  Only thing have not tested yet is the camera.
