This review is from: Thermaltake Silent 1156 CLP0552 92mm CPU Cooler For Intel Socket LGA1156
Pros:
Conceptually, an easy installation
Not worse cooling than stock fan
Cons:
Though installation was easy, it wasnt solid. The first time I pushed the pins through the motherboard, the whole assembly was VERY crooked. The crookedness could be adjusted by pushing back a little more on THIS pin, then a little more on THAT pin, oops now a little more on ANOTHER pin, etc etc etc. It is impossible to know for certain that the heat sink is flush with the processor unless you take the mobo out and do a visual inspection. But one of the reasons I bought this was to NOT have to take the mobo out. It also did not cool any better than the stock cooler nor was it any quieter. Maybe my stock cooler was "Premium Stock" or something.
Overall Review:
Perhaps the problems I had with mounting was my fault, the mobo's fault, or both. I have a socket 1155 Gigabyte motherboard.
What makes me think that this fan COULD work for someone is that it worked as well as the stock fan even when it wasnt making good contact with the CPU. Some sort of mechanical doohickey that says "Assembly is perpendicular to motherboard!" is needed.
