Either I got a lemon or I've configured it wrong or the gigabit switch doesn't work 07/04/2012
This review is from: D-Link Xtreme-N Duo Wireless Bridge/Access Point (DAP-1522) Wireless N300, Dual-Band, Fast Ethernet
Pros:
As a bridge it allows all my wired devices to talk to my router in the back room.
Cons:
The gigabit switch sucks.
Overall Review:
I paired this with a DLINK DIR-825 Wireless router. I'm posting the exact same review I posted for that one because I have the exact same issue with both devices.
Like I said in my title, either I got a lemon or I've configured it wrong or the gigabit switch doesn't work. I can plug multiple devices up to it no problem but the moment I try to do any LAN traffic the speeds are horrible to non-existent. What I've done is taken an old dedicated switch laying around and plugged it into the bridge and then I've plugged all my devices into the switch. That's the only way to get ANY kind of LAN speed. So far I've been unable to get the switch embedded into the device to work and have to use an external switch.
I considered returning this and the DIR 825 for a refund and trying a linksys wireless router/bridge combo but to be honest the reviews for their N speed/gigabit routers/switches/bridges aren't much better so I'll probably just get a generic gigabit switch and be done with it
