This review is from: Western Digital WD Green WD20EARX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Pros:
Worked fine while it did.
Cons:
Errors began RIGHT outside the warranty.
Overall Review:
I bought a lot of storage roughly 3.5 years ago and this is the 1st hard drive to die. I would have thought the opposite since i only stored things on it (rarely writing or even READING the drive). It claims to be cooler and less power, blah blah efficient. Well it started out running 20 degrees (F, not sure why my disk monitor has Fahrenheit) And gave me degradation in the SMART values, Current Pending sector count and off-line uncorrectable sector count. I didn't wait for it to die completely, not sure how long it would have live. I have seagates and other WD's that have undergone WAY WAY WAY worse punishment in a fully loaded mid-size case (six HDD's stacked with lo noise fans). My guess might be that it makes less heat but is also SENSITIVE to more heat. It still worked for a recorded 3.5 years but it is the 1st to quit of a lot of different drives (SG barracudas, WD scorpio blues/blacks).
