Pros: Good price. It's Western Digital.
Cons: Drive arrived with its top metal plate covering bent front and back. Drive was very well packed from Newegg, and showed absolutely no evidence of shipping damage. When I first noticed the good price, I kept reading everywhere to see if this might be a refurb, and although the narrative doesn't mention it, the bent metal screams that it is. It looks as if a kid took a screwdriver to it and tried to pry the top off. Have bought a lot of hard drives over many years and this is the first one to arrive bent.
Overall Review: Will it format to completion? I dunno, it's in process (doing a full not quick format due to the bent top), but it spun up on the first try with minimal noise. I'll be back posting more if it fails the format.
Pros: Cache size for a 5400RPM drive is good. Not a speed demon to say the least. Will make a good storage drive. Not made to be a boot drive.
Cons: For cache size, this drive is certainly no speed demon as far as read and write speeds. Comparing it to my exisiting Seagate and Samsung 2TB drives, its a little better than the Seagate, and miles behind the Samsung. A little noisier than the other two.
Overall Review: Using this as a storage drive to store movie files. I will write another review in a few months after I see how it does on a daily basis and utiiizing large file transfers.
Pros: Purchased for $89 + FS on sale, which is a great price point for this HD. Plugged into PC, worked flawless from the start. No problems yet..been using for over 4 months now. Great product as expected from WD. I use it to store my digital HD movies and MP3's and playback and recording is smooth.
Cons: Though playback and recording is smooth, transferring to and from it is on par but I've used Seagate Barraccuda's before running at 10,000 RPM and I can see the difference. But for the price..who can complain?
Overall Review: If you need a good reliable HD, this one will do.
Pros: Capacity, more reliable than Seagate, excellent speed for a drive of this class, very low noise, heat, and power consumption.
Cons: Not as reliable as the Blues or the Blacks, not recommended for speed-sensitive uses (video editing, boot drive, etc), IDLE TIMER ISSUE.
Overall Review: If all you Caviar Green owners are not aware of this yet, it is VERY important that you check your head park timer to make sure it was not shipped to park after 8 seconds of inactivity. Many of the WD Greens ship this way, and this setting will wear out the head actuator mechanism prematurely, resulting in an otherwise long-running Green failing after just 2-3 years, possibly sooner depending on your usage habits. WD hosts the tools you need for this; look for the WDIDLE3 program. Within this program you can disable the timer completely, or at least adjust it to park the heads during idle after a more reasonable time frame.
Pros: Faster than WD20EARS even on 3Gbps connection.
Cons: None so far.
Overall Review: This was a warranty replacement for a WD20EARS (1/3 I own) that started throwing errors after about a year. WD sent me a WD20EARX as a replacement. Even on a 3Gpbs SATA port, it outperforms the WD20EARS by about 15MBps (MegaBYTES per second) on writes. FYI, read the "My WD drive was DOA/failed, don't buy WD drives!" reviews with a grain of salt. Read the Seagate, Hitachi, etc. reviews of similar drives and you find the same thing. Sadly, the initial failure rate of new high capacity drives seems high, from all manufacturers. It's important to do initial "burn-in" of a new hard drive before you start using it for anything useful. At worst, try the free Parted Magic CD to run the extended S.M.A.R.T. test on a new drive, perhaps after a few dummy copies of large files. S.M.A.R.T. monitoring is also very useful while you are using the drive to detect potential failures early. In Windows, try the free Crystal Disk Info for example to monitor a drive's S.M.A.R.T. status all the ti
Pros: This new 2TB SATAIII drive from WD has served me well over the past few weeks. Been stressing the heck out of it and have had no issues at all, runs cooler than my RE4's which is a very good thing.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Somethign to note, physical sector size is 4K. The Physical Sector Size on the SATAII drives is 512 bytes, therefore the SATAII and SATAIII drives are incompatible to RAID together in a mirror.
Pros: Easy to Install and setup. fast shipping. No Tax..
Cons: none sofar. everything is running good
Overall Review: I got Two of these to run a Raid 0 in a gaming Rig with an intell i72600k and a z68 chipset gigabyte board. everyting is working good.

Pros: Large capacity. Worked exactly as expected.
Cons: Volitility of price. I feel like I have to watch hard drive prices for a week before I can buy one. Over a week, you can see $20-30 dollar swings in prices/sales.
Overall Review: Integrated perfectly with my WHS 2011 system as a data drive. 1863 GB after formatting.
