Well-built product that unfortunately didn't meet my in-wall inspection needs. 03/09/2013
This review is from: USB LED Digital Magnifier Microscope Endoscope Borescope Camera for Detailed Visual Inspection, Home, generator inspection, tube inspection, industry inspection - 200X
Pros:
I bought this endoscope to explore behind some wall cavities for cables and other fixtures that had been covered over accidentally. It seems to be quite sturdy, and I like the flex, weight, and feel of the endoscope and handle. The software would have been enough for my purposes, and has added features of annotation and capture. Also, the packaging has some very entertaining graphics describing its potential uses. One of the images seems to identify a blurry image of an unidentified humanoid standing in a forest - Sasquatch, is that you?
Cons:
Unfortunately, it didn't serve my needs. The LED Lighting does not evenly graduate across the whole of the dimmer wheel, suddenly jumping from bright to dark. At close range, it's hard to adjust to the necessary level of light. The solid end of the endoscope may limit its use in tight space, as it doesn't curve until 2 inches down or so. Most importantly, however, the 10x (on box) or 50x (on Newegg) magnification reported makes it very difficult to use to survey spaces. It's more of a microscope with a long flexible mount.
Overall Review:
I don't have any other endoscope wall use to compare this with, so take my review with a grain of salt - perhaps you can make it work for you. It might work well for microscopic inspection of a piece of machinery out of your reach.
