This review is from: Harman/Kardon AVR2650 7.1 Channel A/V Receiver
Pros:
Once set up, it's easy enough that my wife can switch from TV to DVR to Blu-Ray without help. A big plus!
It's a 7.1 system, but you can set it up to drive a 5.1 home theater (all my house requires) and use the other 2 channels to drive stereo sound to a second room (in my case, the sunroom).
Cons:
Only seems to recognize songs in a Windows Media Player library - I don't use WMP, so I had to set it up on my computer before the receiver could see the music.
Video pass through only works when the receiver is powered up. If I'm just watching the news - especially in the morning when everyone else is still asleep - I don't want to hear the subwoofer and surround sound. Fortunately, you can set it so it defaults to zero volume when it is turned on.
Overall Review:
Had to replace a Bose 5.1 Surround-system and Newegg had a fantastic deal on this - cheaper than a less powerful 5-channel unit. At that price its a steal. I paired it with Klipsch Quintet system and Klipsch Reference Sub configured for wireless. It rocks the whole house.
